for more on the investigation, let's bring in michael solomon.is a former intelligence officer with the u.s. state department. mr. solomon, let's start about what the investigators on the ground there are looking for in terms of collecting physical evidence, you know, gun shells, et cetera. what are they looking for right now? >> good morning. first of all, my prayers and my heart goes out to the families and the victims. it's an amazing horrific act. what they are doing right now is gathering any evidence that they can. it's inconceivable that one person with one ar-15 can do this but it can happen. they're going around and looking for everything. they're going to try to trace anything that they can to indicate it. most probably this morning they're looking for all of the ammunition and the shell casings lying around to see possibly what his path of action was when he came into the premise. that's probably what is happening right off. but first and foremost thing that the police department does is they want to take care of the victims and get th

solomon. so, bill, what did history get wrong? >> michaelng that history got wrong was, two weeks after kitty's murder, there was a front page "new york times" article which started out describing the situation this way. 38 people watched over the course of a half an hour, and did nothing. 38 people did not watch. the attack took place in two different phases, one was on austin street and the other was in the back of apartments. it took, did take place over 30, 32 minutes, something like that, but 38 people certainly did not watch over that time span. >> they didn't stand by. because we just showed the clip, michael ferrar's mother. you interviewed her in a very poignant scene in the movie. your sister died in her arms. >> of course, it was over the course of 32 minutes and when sophia first found out, it was at the end of her life. it was after the second attack, which was really the fatal attack. >> was this done, then, to sell newspapers? i have the headline in my hand. 37 who saw murder didn't call the police. >> some have said that. i m
