michael vickers. let's begin with our justice reporter. what are your sources telling you? >> wolf we're hearing from u.s. law enforcement officials that they're boosting security measures ahead of the fourth of july holiday, more police are being deployed to prominent locations. because they're concerned about possible attacks by isis recruits here in america. the police department tells us it is increasing counter terrorism, and security measures this weekend, compared to past years and that includes radiation detection units and dogs. the los angeles police department tells me it's doing heavy deployment this weekend since the start of the year the u.s. authorities have charged at least 49 people for supporting isis and that doesn't include three people who have been killed in actually trying to carry out attacks. >> are they aware of any specific plots? >> the homeland security council is careful to say they don't know of any specific plots to this weekend. one of the concerns is that the hundreds of people they have that they're monitoring they have under investigation around

wolf, always good to be with you. thank you. >> you just heard jim sciutto's report the assistant director at the fbi for counterterrorism michael steinback saying there have been upwards of hundreds of americans traveling to join these terror groups. what's the plan to stop this recruitment of americans? >> wolf, that is huge question. we've been concerned from day one about their ability, as you've been reporting right now, to recruit people through social media. that's one of the reasons i think you saw this debate that took place on the floor over the last couple of weeks relative to the patriot act. we have tools in place that are not being utilized in their full capacity. we know that technology is changing such. we've got to upgrade. but again to even lessen our abilities today to deal with some of these things to me is not appropriate. that's not directly relatable to this social media piece. but it is one of the tools that we've been able to utilize to keep terrorist at bay. so back to the bigger picture, look this is something we're going to be dealing with for a long long time. i don't think there's any question to am

chairman michael mccall said what was surprising today was that the president admitted he didn't have a strategy and the remarks are a reminder of what the president said nine months ago. wolf you'll remember them well. that was when he said he did not have a strategy for dealing with isis in syria. >> there was an awkward moment during the summit the leaders gathering there with the iraqi prime minister haider al abauddi. he came next to the president, sat down. pick up what happened there. >> reporter: right, it was strange. an iraqi prime minister haider al abauddi, traveled to the alps to ask the world leaders for more military assistance. there was this awkward moment earlier today when it seemed he could not get the president's attention. the president was apparently deeply engrossed in his conversation with other leaders at this summit and did not realize that the iraqi prime minister was right behind him. i think we should point out, this does not appear to be a snub. abadi is the man the president wanted as prime minister of iraq and later the president told prime minister abadi during their bilateral meeting that more support is coming for the iraqis and he pledge

michael slager on murder charges. this case in south carolina has caused a huge uproar in the united states. what do prosecutors say? >> a lot of protests as well. this happened very quickly, wolf. the grand jury was presented this case today and returned the indictment hours later. the indictment is for murder for the unlawful killing with malice or forethought, that in the state of south carolina. the judge has been named but not the date of when this is going to go to court. this indictment unlike these other cases that we've been following involving police shootings, it was expected. now, the reason why is because the video, essentially, that went viral showing this incident just a few days later and the fact that officer michael slager has been sitting in jail ever since having been quickly fired from the department arrested and charged with murder back in april. so just to remind our viewers, it was the cell phone video showing the officer, slager chasing walter scott who had been initially pulled over for a faulty brake light seen firing his gun eight times, five of which hit scott, who was pronounced dead on the scene. the reaction now swift from all sides today. this i
