alex, unexpected -- truly unexpected developments in the michael flynn case today. >> that's right, wolf. this is not the way we expected this day to go. after both mueller's team and flynn's lawyers had asked for no prison time for the former national security adviser. this could have been a straight forward sentencing, but the judge clearly had other ideas. he was fired up and made it clear that prison is still very much a possibility for michael flynn. >> lock him up! lock him up! >> a surprising twist in the legal drama unfolding around michael flynn as a federal judge gave a stunning rebuke of the former national security adviser, suggesting that he may have sent flynn to jail. in a dramatic series of statements in the courtroom, judge emmett sullivan in the d.c. district court slammed flynn for not registering as a foreign agent as he lobbied for turkey, suggesting he did it while in the white house, saying, that undermines everything this flag over here stands for. arguably, you sold your country out. judge sullivan also asked prosecutors if they considered charging flynn with tre

michael cohen. they say that he has essentially admitted to everything that he had done, including lying to members of congress, obviously, when he had first testified by -- in the written document, wolf>> it's interesting, because in the document that the u.s. attorney for the southern district of new york says the sentencing guidelines for the crimes he committed, michael cohen, would range from 51 to 63 months. and then they say this. for these reasons, the office respectfully requests that this court impose a substantial term of imprisonment, one that reflects a modest downward variance from the applicable guidelines range. in other words, they're recommending only a very, very modest reduction from the 51 to 63 months, maybe four years, five years in prison. is that right? >> right. that's right, wolf. they're recommending essentially that he only get credit for being cooperative for pleading guilty, obviously, to some of these crimes and avoiding having to go through trial. but certainly for helping the special counsel's office. that seems to be where all the credit that he's getting. because that piece of information has been very key to that investigation. but certainly, as yo

michael cone and paul manafort? >> tomorrow will be a busy day, wolf.rmation about the alleged lies that manafort told and what he did to undo his plea deal. we'll see how much they reveal and don't reveal. and even if some of their filings are recontacted the, once again, as they did with the former national security adviser earlier this week with michael flynn, anything that is blacked out eventually we will see. so when it comes to michael cohen on that issue, anything that they do in terms of detailing some of his cooperation, that will be interesting because all of that will eventually be unsealed once these investigations wrap up. >> chris you think we could see some damaging information involving the president? >> always possible. you know, i think laura makes the point that if the flynn sentencing document is indicative at all, we're likely not to see this sort of -- the whole story tomorrow. we're likely to kind of be reading in between the lines. one thing i do think will be interesting is the evidence put forward on why the special counsel's
