back with me, max boot, tim naftali, michael zeldin. michael zeldin, to you.eporting on top of what you just heard from the special counsel report is that others knew of don jr.'s efforts to get dirt on hillary clinton. we know about it because of the emails, right, that were released, but our reporting now is that rick gates, of course, who is, you know, former associate of the president, has been charged in all this, he all -- deputy campaign chairman. he also says that people like don -- in addition to don jr. that eric trump, paul manafort, hope hicks, ivanka trump and jared kushner were in that meeting in trump tower in june of 2016. how significant is that? >> well, it doesn't, you know, it doesn't appear that mueller is going to do anything with it. there are a lot of cases that have been referred to other u.s. attorney's offices where it is redacted in the report, so we don't know whether or not don jr. has been referred to another u.s. attorney's office for consideration of this. >> right. >> we know that don jr. was not interviewed by mueller -- >> j

. >> michael zeldin, we'll live it there for now. >>> hillary clinton is weighing in on the mueller investigation. she spoke to cnn's fareed zakaria yesterday at the tenth annual women in the world summit in new york. listen. >> so we're in this bit of a twilight zone, aren't we, there's a report that depending upon which figure you believe is some where between maybe, 30, 400 pages long and it is not being delivered to the congress, which has an absolute right to see it. it is not being presented to the public, so i think that what we saw in congress with the attorney general's presentation in both the house and the senate is someone who considers his principled duty to be protecting donald trump, not protecting the rule of law and the democracy that the justice department should be defending and i remember when nixon was really upset because there was an investigation going on and he fired people who would not do his bidding until he finally ended up with somebody who would do his bidding, but it didn't save him because the informa

michael zeldin is a former federal prosecutor and was a special assistance to robert mueller at the justice good to see you. if redacted and released, will barr be asked, you know, by congress or anyone else? you know, why he's taking this method. why deliver a redacted version and not an unredacted one, especially in the point that jerry nadler just made? >> so i think that he has already answered the question on the redacted public report in his march 29th letter when he said that the law does not permit him to release grand jury protected secrecy information and that he wants to protect the privacy interests of named individuals who were not charged with crime and sources and methods and the like, so he has articulated why he doesn't want to give the public the unredacted version. >> and you heard the judiciary chair say that is their job, and they are sworn, you know, to that kind of responsibility of handling grand jury or classified information. >> exactly. so the second part was why didn't he give it to congress? and i think he should give it to congress. i think that congress has le

. >> with me now, michael zeldin who served as robert mueller's former special assistant at the departmentjustice, he is also a former federal prosecutor and a cnn legal analyst. good to see you. happy easter and passover. >> thank you. >> let's begin. your reaction, as you were listening to it, what were you thinking and feeling? >> well, i wrote a piece back on the 2nd of april, saying that barr was mistaken when he wrote a letter to congress on march 24, providing the bottom line summary of mueller's report. i thought that that was inappropriate. and it was misleading. and it set a political tone that we are now trying to deal with the aftermath of. i also think that he repeated that same mistake in his press conference, when he again misrepresented aspects of the report, or cherry-picked parts of the report without picking the context in which some of those statements were made. so i'm a little bit surprised, i worked for bill barr, i like bill barr, i have a great deal of respect for bill barr but i'm a little bit surprised that he decided both on march 24 and again the other day with
