michelle achille is being remembered tonight as a wonderful lady. >> reporter: what people here in los gatos say is michelle stood strong in the trial and the aftermath. now another tragedy for a family and a town that have been through so much. at first, authorities thought they were just responding to a brushfire. instead, they found the burned car and body 150 feet down in a ravine. they believe the driver simply lost control. >> we do have indications that speed was a factor, unable to negotiate a turn. >> reporter: the victim, 54- year-old michelle achille was the widow of mark achille. his murder gripped the town in 2008. ultimately three men went to prison for arranging the hit. the owners of the coffee shot remember the family and what happened to them. >> it definitely gripped the whole town. i mean, everybody knew mark. he was a great guy. his wife, a wonderful lady. >> reporter: and now this. news of the accident spread quickly around town. though the couple had been separated, they remained close. >> this woman had gone through so much, and that's really sad. i feel for her
