michele bachmann is speaking to the attendies right now as she has been for the better part of 20 minutes. but the biggest draw of the day and the whole conference is delaware candidate kelly o'donnell who single handedly turned the republican ballot in her state upside down. good morning to you. >> good morning, alex. >> so, what is this annual meeting about this year? anything that makes it distinctly different than year's past? >> the value voter's summit is usually about social issues. this is where folks who consider moral valus to be something that they vote on that's a voting issue for them. think about abortion and gay marriage and you think about separation of church and state and some of those issues. that is really important to those folks. what's different this year is with the tea party movement is stressing so much about debt and fiscal responsibility that fiscal responsibility has become a real thing that they've talked about as a moral issue. so, the moral issue, something that jim dement talked about, something that mike huckabee who is really liked by the activists here.

the house that might go to republicans in november could be far less beholden to boehner than michele bachmann. meet the brand new republican nominee for the senate who has so-called republican strategists in 2008 instead of then presidential candidate barack obama saying "he's so liberal that he's anti-american." that christine o'donnell. now defeated mike castle 53% to 47% for the senate seat formally occupied by vice president joe biden. but only 1/3 of delaware's registered republicans voted. which means that o'donnell's nearly 30,000 votes represent only 16% of delaware's registered republicans. and only 5% of all registered voters in the state. congressman castle would've done better in the general election according to a new survey from the democratic polling organization public policy polling. in a hypothetical match-up, castle led the democratic senate nominee chris koonz. but koonz leads o'donnell by double-digits. and senior aide to castle tells politico, he will not be endorsing o'donnell. and while one poll does not an election make, noticed this from the same survey, unfavorable
