i'm michelle griego. >> hi, everyone. i'm frank mallicoat. it's 5:00. >>> developing news from the east bay where a manhunt continues for a child molester. kpix 5's sue kwon is at the berkeley marina where a boy was attacked in a restroom. sue. >> reporter: good morning. yes, this morning, we are told that berkeley police are still searching for the suspect in this incident. a mother told police that a boy went here to this public bathroom next to shorebird park here at the end of university avenue and this happened about 1:30. a man was inside the bathroom and allegedly molested or fondled him. police brought in several different law enforcement groups and they searched for foot, by dirt bike and helicopter inspecting cars leaving the area. the special victims units spoke with the boy. the suspect description is unusual, an african-american man with blonde hair with green streaks. we don't know at this point if it was a wig or his hair dyed. but that's the extent of the description. it's quiet though morning. the bathrooms are closed. report

i'm michelle griego. >> hi, everyone. i'm frank mallicoat. it is 5:01. breaking news out of san francisco at this hour. bulldozers and police in riot gear moving in on protestors right now. >> it's happening at an urban garden in hayes valley and there's word that one of the protestors has fallen from a tree. sue kwon reports with the latest. >> reporter: right now we're looking at san francisco police in a cherrypicker trying to talk to another protestor named mike who is sitting in a second tree. they do have these foam boxes at the bottom of the tree so the other protestor we don't believe was injured. this one is resisting. it's been about 15 minutes since police have been trying to talk to him using strobe lights and there's another officer standing by with rubber bullets. they haven't been fired. they are trying to negotiate with him to bring him down. he is with the group protesting here in hayes valley with the hayes valley farm. and called desi gardens, they have renamed it. it's basically a protest against a company that wants to build 185-unit

. >> i'm michelle griego. time now is 6:00. a major fire in lafayette is snarling the east bay commute. highway 24 has been a mess. let's kick it over to gianna and find out how things are going. >> they have at least three lanes shut down because of this car carrier that caught fire. we have been monitoring this for almost an hour now. here's a live look from chopper 5. and you can see it's still smoldering there in the area. this is on the right side of highway 24 at central lafayette there. so they have opened two lanes but again traffic is still jammed all the way from 680 causing a bottleneck effect. so you definitely want to avoid the area if you can. now, we want to show you some video of what actually happened in that area. we have that for you right now. so you can see earlier the car carrier on the right shoulder completely caught fire. it was fully engulfed carrying at least 9 vehicles. it did ignite a grass fire there over to the right shoulder, as well. so lots of fire crews there were on scene and again that's whe

good afternoon, i'm michelle griego. >> hi, everyone. i'm frank mallicoat. >> breaking news out of san jose where a crash has killed a pedestrian. san jose police say it started with a collision between two trucks. the force of the impact knocked the truck over on its side on to a woman in a crosswalk. it happened on lincoln avenue around 9:45 this morning. >> when the delivery truck turned over on its side, there was a pedestrianing crossing in the crosswalk. the pedestrian was struck and was pronounced dead at the scene. >>> both drivers are cooperating. this is the 17th pedestrian fatality in san jose this year and morales says that's six more than in the city had in all of last year. >>> police say a minor fender- bender ended in a fatal shooting in oakland and now police an distraught family are looking for answers. it happened last night in the 5800 block of market street near stanford and north oakland. sue kwon has more on the victim killed an hour before his birthday. sue. >> reporter: this accident happened here at the intersec
