i'm michelle griego. >> and i'm brian hackney. frank has the day off. we're going to begin with breaking news. in san francisco two left lanes of southbound 101 are still shut down by police activity. a driver involved in a slow speed chase across the bay bridge ended near the caesar chavez exit. a van was involved in a workplace dispute in fairfield. he was finally pulled over but traffic remains a mess. a look at the traffic computer shows southbound lanes are backed up on to the bay bridge. two lanes are still closed as police investigated. a live picture showing the slow traffic at the bay bridge toll plaza. usually at noon it is smooth sailing. as you can see from this picture, not today. more of the fallout from that slow speed chase. we're getting word the southbound lanes on 101 are open. we'll keep an eye on it. >>> a sad day on a middle school campus in the east bay. 14-year-old jenna betty is being mourned after she was killed on the train tracks while trying to retrieve her cell phone. it happened near old orchard and howell roads at 5:00 ye

. >> i'm michelle griego. developing right now at 6:00, a mother and young daughter are badly injured in a head-on crash overnight. anne makovec is getting the latest. both drivers may have been drinking. >> reporter: yes, they believe that alcohol certainly played a role in this crash. you can see that osgood road still slowed down near automall parkway and you can see the two sedans are still on the roadway. they collided head on, a 33- year-old mother and a 4-year- old girl. they were sent to the hospital with major injuries. the little girl is critical and the other car, a 30-year-old man. his injuries aren't as bad. he is expected to live, but police say both of the drivers had been drinking and police say the little girl's car seat wasn't properly installed which contributed to her serious injury. >> looked like the car seat probably flew to the left side of the car at impact and then returned to the original position. so the injuries occurred which the child's head hit the post. >> reporter: police say

i'm frank mallicoat. >> i'm michelle griego. time now 6:30. >>> we begin with kiet do following breaking news in downtown san jose. vta service there has been disrupted after a man was found dead near the tracks. kiet, what's the latest? > >> reporter: good morning. quite a scene here in downtown san jose as the morning commute begins, people going by getting ready to go to work or school in the middle of an expansive crime scene here at the corner of 2nd and st. john. now, if you look closely there, just to the right of that patrol car is where the body was found this morning just before 3:00. the police got a 911 call of a man down. they got here. the man was alive but died later at the scene. he had at least one stab wound. there was a lot of blood at the scene. no suspects in custody right now. detectives are investigating, trying to get security camera footage and gather evidence to see what happened. we are expecting an update from a spokesman in about 15 minutes here so that's all we have for now. not a lot, just that one

. >> and i'm michelle griego. time now is 6:00. some breaking news from san jose. police are at the scene of a homicide after a man's body was found inside a home. kpix 5 reporter kiet do is just received new information about how that man died. kiet? >> reporter: and we have just learned that the man died from at least one gunshot wound and critical detail as police are still on scene here on the 5,000 block of eppling lane in south san jose near blossoms hill and 101. this call came down at 9:39 last night. whoever called 911 knew the man who died. the man was in his 20s and he was inside the house and there was no sign of forced entry. police arrived on scene and they found him dead inside the house. along with more than several quote marijuana potted plants inside the house. they would not say if the marijuana was a grow house or how it was situated in the house they would only say there were some potted plants inside the house. now as we learned this new detail about the gunshot wound, they say that the man did have a right to be inside the house. but whether

. >> and i'm michelle griego. time now is 6:00. breaking news. kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran is gathering new information from the scene of a deadly motorcycle crash in fremont. fremont boulevard and decoto road is closed right now and will be for several more hours. >> reporter: yeah. they're not -- they are thinking right around 9:00 but that might be optimistic because they have a lot of work cut out for them. i want to tell you though, michelle, that police didn't even know about this accident until they caught the suspect. they say that's when they were flagged down by other drivers who point out the motorcyclist on the road. let's give you a look at the scene. the debris is littered across in intersection. investigators are much more to do collecting and photographing evidence. the suspect we know has been arrested and could face several charges including manslaughter and dui because fremont police say alcohol may have played a role. how it happened, police got a call around 1:00 this morning from a taco bell employee. that employee told of

good afternoon everyone i'm michelle griego. >> good afternoon everyone. mark, you were in the courtroom this morning, tell us what happened. >> reporter: i was, frank raymond, shrimp boy chow made the first appearance. he's still in custody. we learned today he doesn't have council. so he'll have another court appearance come this wednesday. as for leland yee, he's out on bond, 500,000-dollar bond. today his preliminary hearing was set for april 8th. a stone faced leland yee left federal court monday morning making no comment to the press and still not entering a plea. but yee's attorney did not miss an opportunity to defend his high-profile client and poke holes in the prosecution's case. first, why did the case against yee take several years for the government to build. three years in fact. >> the government did not think that they had a case they could make until towards the end they started pushing -- the agents started pushing this idea of the arms dealing. >> reporter: he would not comment further on the arms trafficking allegation. yee faces six fe
