i'm michelle griego. >> hi, everyone. i'm frank mallicoat.0. >>> happening today, a vote to keep the a's playing ball in oakland for up to 10 years. >> kpix 5's mark sayre joins us live at the coliseum now with more on a deal that not many are happy about. mark, good morning. >> reporter: indeed, frank. both alameda county and the city of oakland jointly own the coliseum site. for its part the county wants to approve the deal later this morning but oakland says it will vote against the proposal. at issue of course a 10-year lease to keep the a's in oakland. the a's would pay $1.75 million to play at the coliseum next year and $1.25 million in years after that. but it comes with a big concession. the stadium authority would have to forgive $5 million the a's owe in back rent for the a's installing a new scoreboard system. the city council wants more money and will vote against the lease. for its part the county would like oakland just to take full ownership of the coliseum. >> county would love for the city to just buy us out. then the city ca

. >> i'm michelle griego. an admitted prostitute is facing charges in the heroin overdeath of a google executive. 26-year-old alix tichleman was in court today where the judge lessened one charge. kpix 5's anne makovec reports from the newsroom. >> reporter: the main charge of second-degree murder was reduced to manslaughter for now at least. miss tichleman didn't enter a plea. she is in jail. 26-year-old model and call girl alix tichleman appears less glamorous than the pictures we found online. according to investigators, she is addicted to heroin and gave this man, 51-year-old forrest hayes, a lethal dose then left him to die. he was a google executive and married father of five, living in santa cruz. the two met on seekingarrangement.com. it's a website for sugar daddies and younger women. police say hayes hired tichleman for a night of sex and drugs on his luxury yacht in november. it wasn't their first date but it turned out to be the last. >> miss tichleman provided the heroin. we know that she injected

. >> i'm michelle griego. we're going straight to our breaking news. kpix 5's anne makovec is standing by at sfo, but first, another tragedy for malaysia airlines. 280 passengers and 15 crew members were on board the boeing 777 when it went down in ukraine near the russian border. 23 americans were on that plane. craig boswell has the latest on the crash. >> reporter: amateur video shows black smoke rising from a field in ukraine near the russian border. it's believed to be the crash site of malaysia airlines flight 17. 295 people were on board traveling from amsterdam to koala lumpur. bodies have been found miles from the crash site indicating it broke up at cruising altitude 33,000 feet. this picture from "russia today" appears to be part of the fuselage. a ukraine government adviser says a missile was fired. both sides in the region denny involvement. the ongoing conflict has made the air space dangerous. >> it's a mystery to me given the recent shootdowns how a civilian airliner was routed that way. it could easily have gone an adjacent path. >> re
