i'm michelle griego. >> i'm kenny choi. a deadly accident is causing a major traffic mess this morning on 880. kpix 5's anne makovec is live in oakland with the very latest. anne. >> reporter: yeah. >> reporter: it's a mess. they are taking the car involved in the accident off the road. this is 880 near the coliseum. that car has a smashed windshield. that car hit a pedestrian. somebody walking here in the northbound lanes at 880. so all of the lanes are closed down right now. traffic is being diverted on to 66. drivers are encouraged to take 580 in the meantime. you can see the lanes blocked off here and you can see the traffic that is getting off the freeway. a lot of police out here trying to figure out why there was a person walking in lanes. they think you will they will have the lanes closed down for this investigation for about two hours. so you can expect 880 here near the coliseum to be closed until possibly about 6 a.m. live in oakland, anne makevoc, kpix 5. >>> all right. anne. it's going to be a while, right? >>

. >> i'm michelle griego. we're following breaking news in emeryville where a six-story building is burning fast. kpix 5's anne makovec is live on the phone with more on this five-alarm blaze. anne. >> reporter: firefighters are making progress on this fire. it's been burning since 2:30 this morning in a building under construction. we understand it was a condo building. it was going to be a condo building. but it is destroyed at this point. there are still a lot of hoses up there, ladder crews spraying water on this fire at all angles. the flames were leaping into the sky for several hours. in fact, a lot of our viewers called saying they could see it from several of the bay area freeways. basically this is very close to the macarthur maze close to the oakland-emeryville border. the address is on 40th and san pablo but there are other road closures in the area, as well. there's smoke pouring off the building blowing northeast right now towards berkeley and oakland. we have heard of evacuations but that's unco
