. >> i am michelle griego. let's go to anne makovec at the live news desk with the latest on the dixie fire. >>> this is a story we have heard before. pge's equipment being linked to several wildfires including the one in paradise that killed 85 people in 2018. now, pge admitting in a filing with california public utilities commission that its equipment may be to blame for the dixie fireis burning in northern california. more than 30,000 acres so far in butte and plumas, 15% contained, has been burning since july 13. in the filing it says an employee responded to a power outage that day at the crested dam and noticed add blown fuse but couldn't get to it for almost eight hours because terrain was rough and there was road work in the area. when he did he found a tree leaning on a conductor and a fire nearby. firefighters have been battling flames in feather river canyon since. cal fire has not named an official cause but have could be physical indicated some of pge's equipment in their investigation. a pge spoke

. >> i am michelle griego. it's going to be a hot weekend. we take a live look outside at the east bay overlooking the dublin pleasanton area. three words. triple digit temperatures. we have live team coverage. first is meteorologist darren peck. >>> temperatures are going to 104 today. for some hottest spots inland that's specifically inland contra costa where the focus for the worst of the heat wave will be. let's take a moment on the start of this friday to see how different the bay area looks, not only cameras from the inland valleys. in the city there is no marine r, clouds are not obscuring the city. we can use our camera on top of the sales force tower again. views are spectacular. that says a lot about the fact that the center of high pressure has gotten rid of the clouds. that usually is a big benefit if you want to keep temperatures cool. look at the number in livermore, 68 degrees. it's about 12 degrees warmer than it was yesterday at this time for the tri valley. we've already got a head start through inland parts of the bay area.

i am michelle griego. let's get to anne makovec at the live news desk. >>> the mayor and police chief just released the city's first public safety report of the year just a few minutes ago. it shows the statistics from the past six months. we have seen increase in several types of violent crimes over the past six years. taking a live look at the city where there has been what police describe as a troubling increase in burglaries, more than 3700, highest number since 2015. they're up more than 50% since 2019 before the pandemic of course. robberies are actually down at about 1100. aggravated assaults were up to almost 1100 and there were 26 homicides, also a slight up tick. the chief mentioned some viral videos we have been seeing, bold crime in action, some have been caught and others have gotten away with it. he doesn't want this lawlessness to reflect on the city as a whole. >> what we see on the videos are brazen heinous crime. there is no statistic for what that does for the outlook on how we perceive
