chris thomas from michigan. this perception out there of partisanship in the administration of elections. there seems to be a growing misconception that partisan elected officials will act in the parties interest as they perform their duties. the good secretary from georgia has been a sterling example. but nonetheless, we are not the model from the world in terms of having partisan officials running elections. with this misconception and with some of those folks interested in seeking these offices and become an elections officials, what are the implications you see down the road? >> one of the things that is coming for everyone in this room is that, and there are people that span the political spectrum in this room. but one thing i know amongst all of these people is regardless of party, the idea that you would put your thumb on the scale to help your political party is foreign to you. it is something i found that really hit home for me when i first got into elections and i started meeting elections officials. h

is that something you would think is important in michigan? >> i do think it is important, i want to take a step back and remind everybody how devastating that is going to be for those who are low income, particularly women of color or girls who do not have the means to travel. to bring it back to an example in michigan, our attorney general says she will not be enforced the law. but, she has also said she will not compel county level prosecutors to do the same. so, not only is there going to be a difference, depending on what state you are able to travel to. but, down to your zip code, whether or not you can get direct access to care, whether or not you get access to physicians who are trained, who do not feel fear. i want to go back to the story that i shared in my testimony. nicole and jordan shared with me that they learned there were only four physicians in metro detroit who had been trained to carry out the procedure that they needed. almost half of the states population lived in the metro area. that is for physicians for more than 4 mil
