and then georgia in michigan -- what do you think about this? >> chris, it's too early to offer smart observations. one thing i'd say is there's a long way between that proposed calendar in theory and reality. the republicans right now are not saying they're gonna change their calendar. south carolina's not enough to different primaries. neither is nevada. so there's -- let's say that's the calendar. i think it means if you can't show the ability to get enough african american supports announced the first context, so can just go in iowa and new hampshire and get -- your probably out. then you need to get enough hispanic support in nevada and then you've got those big big states in michigan and georgia. the very expensive, their big states to campaign. in but their battleground states. so the fact that the first grouping of states new hampshire, michigan, georgia, and nevada are all battleground states i certainly like that. >> david plouffe, as, always great to have. you that's all in for this week, alex wagner tonight starts tonight with ali ve

i am used to tough races in michigan. michigan is a tough state.eally kind of think represents the kind of the diversity of our country as well. and as you know, democrats did extremely well in michigan this year as well. but we knew we could win in a tough environment. that -- but that was the bad news. the tough environment. the good news it was clear the american people really don't like republicans that much. that was clear in all of our research. they were saying they don't offer anything positive. they talk about the problems but we all know the problems. saw the campaign. inflation is an issue. the american public said, yeah, we know it. tell us what you're going to do about it. they didn't know it. chuck mentioned the inflakes re -- inflation reduction act. raphael had a great record in georgia. people could run on that record. and then the contrast between them and their opponents was extreme. and one of the most powerful issues for us was the right to -- the choice issue. the abortion issue was clearly a motivating factor for our base in

dmc member for michigan. during this process, there was an effort to take a look at what was taking place around the country, out from a historical perspective and from a current day perspective. during this process, i think we had a chance to have a lot of conversations and debates about this. it's probably allowed a greater understanding of where the country has played out, even with the most recent election cycle from november. during this time, we aim to increase diversity. clearly discussions around michigan actually get that. we also aim to adding more diverse populations in the country. when you looked at where the latoya was in what was happening, michigan actually added 1.3 million african-americans to the population. that meets the great needs of many candidates. it is a game changer during this process. detroit has seen a significant increase in the latino population, with a large concentration in southeastern parts of the city. we have the strongest presence of arab-americans in detroit metro subu

i want to turn to michigan.now michigan approved medical marijuana in 2008 and recreational marijuana 10 years later in 2018. how has that been going? francis: michigan is the fourth largest marijuana market in the country. in the first 11 months of 2022, michigan has already had $2.1 billion in medical and adult use recreational marijuana sales. economists estimate that once the industry is fully set up and mature, cannabis will be a $3 billion industry, bringing in $500 million in state taxes per year, creating 24,000 jobs up and down the supply chain, and having a total economic impact of $7.85 billion. judy: you were telling us the cannabisndustry is facing some challenges going forward. francis: although marijuana is legal at the state level, because it remains a sedule a is illegal at the federal level, many financial institutions are unwilling to risk working with cannabis businesses so legal cannabis businesses have to find local banks and credit unions willing to work with them. judy: really interesting
