it's an especially proud day for someone to be a michigander.ved our state in so many ways. he was a role model from his college days at the university of michigan winning those national championships. i'm sure he would be rooting for the next one to come soon. but he also served our state and congress for nearly 25 years in the grand rapids area and was a role model for many. i had the opportunity to meet him briefly and actually work on one of his and pains and he was a role model to me personally. but he answered a higher calling in addition to a service his service just to our state. he served our nation during one of the most difficult times possible. and he made a real difference. president ford was the personification of courage, of integrity, of civility, a role model for us to all follow, so it's with great pride today and on behalf of the citizens of the state of michigan that we can present this statue to the u.s. capitol and the united states government. thank you.
