there are two institutions that greeted the middle class in america with of the 10 states with the highest capita income, although one is a non- right to work state. the 10 states with the highest medical coverage for the workers, eight of the 10 are not right to work states. where workers have the right to organize and unions, and those can be effective marketing, it raises the level of living for all americans. that, frankly, the fastest- growing states -- three of the 20 are right to work states. that puts that to rest. it is a chance to destroy unions, undermined unions, or hurt them politically. no accidents, the " brother -- koch brothers finance to this. >> it worked great when the united states was number one. trade unions did, as mark said, create a middle class. the problem is international competition. once in china and japan and all these countries start making stuff cheaper, it is problem for unions, and that is just a reality. >> it is also reality that some of that manufacturing is coming back, and not because of low wages. because of transportation costs, innovation, all ki

lot for retirement or take a vacation once in awhile and pay for the health care that's the middle class in america and that is who is getting hurt, that is who is getting on hirsh right now. so when we talk about helping the middle class, that is who we are talking about. we are not talking about people making 300, 400, $500,000 a year. we are talking about those families, making 30, 40, 50, $60,000 a year. but we are also talking about as the sister said, the near-poor. those that labor for minimum wages every day they go to work and a meeting in minimum wage and its bringing them up to maybe if they're lucky if $20,000 a year and they're standing on their feet all day and making minimum wages. long overdue that we would raise the minimum wage in america. long-overdue. [applause] that is who is hurting in america. and we are not going to get our economy back in order with the members of the house and the senate we can do that. we need real tax reform, real tax reform that response to the needs of the near-poor and the middle class, the middle class. we also need a budget that reflects the need to

our middle class has made america different from the rest of the world. every country has rich people. but only a few places have achieved a vibrant and stable middle class. and none has been more vibrant and more stable than ours. but now a growing opportunity gap has developed between the dreams of millions of americans and the opportunities for them to actually realize them. americans are struggling to find or keep middle class jobs for two reasons -- because our economy is not creating enough of these jobs and because too many of our people don't have the education or skills required for the jobs that are being created. a limited government can and must help solve these challenges. we must get the national debt under control. tax increases will not solve our $16 trillion debt. only economic growth and a reform of entitlement programs will help control the debt. we must reform our complicated, uncertain, job-killing tax code, by getting rid of unjustified loopholes. but our goal should be to generate new revenue by creating new taxpayers, not new taxes.
