i was there onhe assignment andv living in the middle east but the work was starting in iraq and thoseucky enough to witness a part of history, we were in iraq for a very long time. for 20 years, this war on terror has continued. i don't want to talk about foreign policy or american mistakes or successes. i wrote the book not to do any of that, i wrote the book to correct what i saw as a glaring omission over the last 20 years. as someone who grew up knowing a lot about our allies in world war ii, i could talk about the warsaw uprising, french resistance fighters and we all probably know one or two of the stories, we knew who was fighting alongside of us and in the war on terror, americans and mostos journalists really havent spent enough time trying to figure out who those people were. baguette, i hope it helps feel that void and put iraqis back as in characters in their own modern history because if you follow foreign policy or know anything about iraq, you know there are shelves and shelves of books written by amazing american generals and servicemen and women about their time spent
