signs have been posted at the midlothian metra station to remind residents to stay alert... and to call 9-1-1 if they're scared to walk home alone. a father and son remain in the will county jail, after pleading "not guilty" to the bat-beating death of a man in romeoville. mark ballard attended yesterday's hearing by video hookup from the jail. his 15-year-old son adam was in the courtroom both are charged with first- degree murder. 55-year-old richard pollack was attacked at his home sunday morning, in a dispute over the theft of his son's skateboard. mark ballard is jailed on 5 million dollars bond... his son, on a 1-million-dollar bond. a mother of five was killed in a crash on interstate 57 early yesterday. lynetta shorter was driving her mini-van southbound on i-57 in matteson just after 2 a-m when she was rear-ended by another car. shorter was ejected from the van. her five children, ages 8 to 13, were also in the car but they suffered minor injuries. >> the ticket for granted sometimes you take it for granted like your corn to see them again. >> she was faith and love

police in midlothian are looking targeting women. this comes after a third woman was assaulted and robbed on monday in her driveway. the incidents started back in mid-july. a community alert has not been issued. police are still investigating. police are investigating an assault at the washington street blue line station. it happened yesterday afternoon around 2-thirty. police say a group of teens were passing out flyers which led to a fight. the victim tried to step in, but was struck in the face. he was taken to northwestern memorial hospital. jonathon koziol and robert hack are facing charges after shoplifting.. then attempting to assault an off-duty chicago police officer. it happened wednesday night at a northwest side jewel. the officer says she approached their vehichle to stop them from stealing. but, the men started driving at her, so she fired two warning shots at the car. no one was injured. they're charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, and retail theft with a previous conviction. an early morning drug bust
