midwest, like michigan, perhaps. and you know, in the midwest, we have seen a decrease in employment within the manufacturing sector, but we have seen increases in employment in other sectors. so in the next graph, i'm going to show you what has happened to employment in selected sectors. so got this graph from the st louis federal reserve's website or it's pretty easy to go out and graph out a lot of the data from the bureau of labor statistics, for example and i put some specific sectors in our economy such as construction leisure and hospitality, retail trade, professional and business services, financial activities, private education, health services, transportation, warehousing and manufacturing, and in this graph, i went back all the way to 1940 to today, the latest data that i could find. in march 2023. so top line over here shows is all employees in the manufacturing sector. so what was going on in the manufacturing sector was until up to about the mid 1940s or so. we saw an increase in employment in the manu

the bulk is the cities of the upper midwest. minneapolis, chicago, cleveland, pittsburgh. but this system came straight down from the north meaning it may have carried just a bit of smoke that's now settled closer to the ground level. weather-wise that means near normal high temperatures again tomorrow, and a bit of a continuing cool down for thursday and friday. couple days below average before we bounce back in time for the memorial day weekend. let's look outside from oakland. you can see the hazy effect on the horizon. temperatures in the 60s across the board for most of us. but down to 56 in san francisco and already 59 in santa rosa. the inland temperature, especially, were remarkably cooler today compared to where we were 24 hours ago. let's look at the current air quality map. we're seeing a lot of green and yellow dots indicating good to moderate at worst air quality. but we'll have to watch this in case the air quality deteriorates further indicating the suspicions about the upper level smoke settling down toward the surface level might be a bit more of a concern
