some big polls out this morning. >> with us is chief white house correspondent for politico mike allenplaybook. mike, good to see you. >> good morning. >> let's get through this because there are brand new political polls out which could give key insight into how voters are feeling ahead of november. let's talk first about the polls and get a little meta about it. what's the bigger indication? >> this is designed to zoom in on the nation's political hot spots. the most potent areas in midterms. of course unlike a presidential election where every state matters, in midterms there's only a couple of areas where the action is isolated. what this poll does is interview voters in the 16 states with senate races and the 66 most competitive house races as ranked by larry sabato. >> let's drill down and look at some of the results that have come out of this. we've got 89% say that foreign policy would be an important factor when voting but just 11% said it would be the most important factor. so with the midterm set to decide which party controls the congress, we look that nearly three-fourths

we need her on the show. >>> with us, mike allen with a look at the playbook. . >> good morning. >> what's your view on the nightmare nanny and the view down in washington, mike? >> the view down in washington is that this is going to be a central plot twist in nicolle's next novel. >> i will always side with the nanny in any novel. always. >> nightmare nanny impact in 2016. >>> a brand new quinnipiac poll paints a bit of a troubling picture for president obama. voters rank president obama the worst president since world war ii. wow, he's followed by george w. bush and richard nixon. the poll also shows close to 50% say the country would have been better off today if mitt romney beat president obama in the 2012 election. just 38% say the country would be worse off. 85% of republicans believe president romney would have the u.s. in a better direction. and 47% of the independent voters have the view but 74% of democrats as you might imagine still say the country would be better off -- is better off with president obama. all right, mike, those are some pretty extre

with us, chief white house politico correspondent mike allen.ood morning. >> good morning. >> one of your least sites has questions that democrats are asking, why isn't the first lady out campaigning for candidates seeking office? the first lady remains hugely popular. some democrats want to see her out there on the stump. >> the first lady is the obama brand without the baggage. by far the most popular member of the administration and she can help in races almost anywhere. lots of governors races, lots of senate races including kentucky for alison grimes. she's been doing very little actual campaigning, very little fund racing. she did a video the other day for house democrats where she said that people needed to be as passionate and hungry this cycle as they were for her and her husband in '08 and '12, that these races would be even harder. over the years the first lady has mostly done get out the vote voter registration events, not campaigning for candidates. there's so many place wheres she could be helpful, places that her husband can't go

mike allen is telling you? >> i think there's a clans.u put your money on it, you put it on mcconnell given that the state is conservative and mcconnell is a ruthless campaigner and is going to have so much money. it's close enough that it's one you have to keep an eye on. i think georgia has a much better chance of flipping, still a tough one for democrats, but an easier one than kentucky because of what kasie was talking about. georgia has changed a lot more than kentucky t rise in the minority population, it is run of the states that is changing and could potentially change in profound ways over the next couple election cycles. if there's one state to watch, if you watch these things casually, watch georgia because it tells you a lot about the country and a lot about the new south. >> jim vandehei and kasie hunt, thank you very much. >>> the donald sterling continues. >> dear god, no. >> he sues the nba as head coach doc rivers claims to leave the team if this issue isn't settled before the season begins. ♪ ♪ in the nation, the safest
