i'm crystal bailey and i'm mike mibach. >> let's get right to chief meteorologist bill martin, who's tracking the weather out there. this was a big winter storm, bill. >> yeah, big winter storm. it had the combination heavy rain and then now the heavy winds. the winds are kind of becoming the main story, though, because we had gusts above 100 miles an hour on mount umunhum in the santa cruz mountains today. so really early, really strong, significant winds, not just up high but down low as well. this is current winds live camera shot. so it's current winds. and you can see the winds down the golden or the bay bridge. it's blowing pretty good but not near as much as it was 3 or 4 hours ago. so as you look at some of the wind gusts in the area, again, remember 54 miles an hour fremont, that's at sea level or near sea level. that's pretty unique. and then montara came in at 65 miles an hour. coastal sections were just buffeted today with gale force winds. the wind advisory and the wind warning have been extended. they were going to be dropped by now and they've extended them through tom

mike. >> all right, sal, thank you for more on how the storm is affecting traffic out there. let's head over to the east bay. that's where we find ktvu. crystal bailey with the latest from emeryville. crystal >> well, mike, it's just been so windy, i actually couldn't even hold an umbrella because the umbrella was just about to come right out of my hands. it's very, very windy out here and very, very wet. we're here at the meeting between the. interstate 8580 and 880 here in emeryville. traffic has been pretty slow and steady here on the freeway much of the afternoon actually just started picking up westbound toward oakland. we're looking at that build up here. you can see it's slower on those eastbound lanes, which is just what sal mentioned. the traffic is moving and no serious crashes from where we can see here. but i hate to state the obvious. it is wet, windy and dark. so you really need to be careful. it's an area that typically gets very congested even when it's dry. so people coming on and off that bridge going from home or going to home today. the best advice? take it easy and don't rush. overall, drivers are staying safe and positive about
