the baker took the case to the supreme court which issued a very narrow ruling this morning. joining me on the phone is julie nice. julie, good morning. >> good morning, mikeeel like this is one of the most anticipated cases of the term. six years ago this was a big case in colorado and across the country. he refused to bake the cake citing religious beliefs. does this make a blanket rejection. >> it does not. that is the most important lesson. i read through the entire decision. my biggest caution it does not give religious shopkeepers a general right to discriminate. this case was decided on two very specific facts. everyone in california will appreciate the first fact which is that at the time this baker refused to bake the cake in colorado, colorado was not yet recognizing same-sex marriage so the court said it was perfectly reasonable for a baker to not treat same-sex couples equally. but the second fact that is more troubling is that a couple of the commissioners of the colorado civil rights commission made statements about the maker's religious beliefs like sense them to discrimination in the era of slavery and discrimination in the era of the holoc
