. >> mike brooks was joining us on the telephone bring us the latest from talking to his sources up there in suburban milwaukee. thanks, mike. we'll stay in close touch. >>> and we are resetting for you at the top of the hour, wanting to bring you up to date on the latest developments coming out of suburban milwaukee where we are told there has been a shooting that's taken place at a day spa. there are a number of victims. we don't know exactly how many, however, the term mass shooting has been used to describe the scene there. we know at least seven people have been transported to one hospital in the milwaukee area. we are told that four of those people have non-life-threatening injuries, and that is to schrader hospital which are used to dealing with trauma. mike brooks from cnn was just on the air, and he was speaking to authorities who seem to know where the suspect is, and they know where he lives. they're trying to figure out where the suspect may be. let's go back to them and listen to their coverage. >> keep folks away from the area so folks don't go in harm's way. we never show t

mike brooks is with us. couple of quick reap minders. the -- when we had may of this year is a 22-year-old female jogger says -- she claimed she was attacked by some guy who tried to put a chemical rag in her mouth. she was able to escape. and then we found out the dna potentially from that incident matched the crime scene from jessica's case. >> they are not saying but i think that's probably what led them in that particular case. that-- in a statement, press release today, from the westminster police, they said that, quote, late tuesday evening, police received a call that led them to a home. one we are looking at now. near the open space with this discovery they made an arrest of which we heard now the 17-year-old. this in fact, had this house -- this house is near that lake open space where the attempted abduction took place over the memorial day weekend. we have this guy now, mike, 17 years old. a lot of questions to come up does -- who does he live with? does he live with his parents? does he live with a guardian? now that they have

joining us now is hln law enforcement analyst mike brooks, mike, we know this is still considered an active investigation, the suspect is still on the loose. >> the last time we spoke, i thought the law enforcement, this is who it was. this is the subject that we thought was involved in this from the beginning. they are still at the scene, they have expanded the perimeter around this salon and spa, they just down the brookfield mall, which is a large mall, they shut that down from the very beginning, did not allow ning to leave. anyone who was coming in, they shut that down. they increased the perimeter just out of an abundance of caution. they don't believe he's still there, they know his tag number, they know where he lives. i haven't been able to confirm it, but as a former investigator, if i know where he lives, i'm going to be over there or preparing a search warrant to go and find out what led up to this. we think it was a domestic situation, someone he might have been in an ongoing divorce, may have worked there at the spa, his estranged wife. maybe it was an isolated incident

mike brooks, the cnn legal analyst who is also well connected in the police community, joins us now onne. mike, what are you learning? >> marty, i'm hearing from my sources close to the investigation there in wisconsin in waukesha county, they have transported seven people to the hospital. we don't know the condition. we don't know if they are life heig life-threatening injuries. they still have not secured the scene. they're still searching for the subject. they believe they know who the subject is, and they think he possibly may have fled the scene. but they do know who this person is and they do know what town he lives in not too far from where the shooting took place, marty. but we don't know if they have him in custody, we don't believe he is in custody right now, as i said, and the swat teams are there still clearing now. this is an equivalent of a third alarm, if you will, for emergency medical service response. a third alarm ems, which brings a number of emergency and medical resources to the scene, and as we said, seven people

our hln law enforcement analyst mike brooks. you hear this kind of thing on so many fronts.h. what about her fiance? where is he? >> the fiance spent the whole day yesterday with law enforcement, with nypd, being talked to. apparently he may still be married and still be her fiance. it's just a crazy story, mike. but apparently they found a note underneath the body. now, the note basically said there was -- after they found it when they rolled her over, it basically said that a pregnant woman a week would die unless the d.c. sniper, washington, d.c. sniper -- remember, we just had the ten-year anniversary of this -- malveaux was going to be let out of prison. do they think this has anything to do with it? law enforcement thinks that could be a ruse to throw them off their investigation. but you have to look into everything, mike, so if i'm law enforcement, i'm going to go back and look at, okay, did anybody send him a letter from new york, because police officials will know where these letters came from. does that letter have anything to do with her murder? maybe, maybe not.

. >> for more on this disturbing case i want to bring in mike brooks. 17 years old.ect, this was not what you expected. >> no. it is not. it is not what fbi profilers expected either. that's what we have. apparently -- prosecutors now looks like they may have the specific dna evidence linking him to this tuck murder. and confession. they are still working the crime scene and out there still at the house and they took the suv and still in the process of going over that vehicle because, you know, it -- possibility that jessica ridgeway's body could have been in that particular vehicle. so -- fbi evidence response team and colorado bureau of investigation, processing that as we speak. >> do they suspect him in anything other than jessica ridgeway and this alleged kidnapping in may? >> yeah. looks like he will be charged most likely with the may 28 attempted abduction. there was another one back in 2010 in the psalm area. we don't know how much evidence, if any, they have in that particular case. but also, yesterday when they started -- when they asked the media to show

mike o'hanlon, coauthor of barack obama's foreign policy senior fellow, foreign policy studies at brookings institution. michael, there is nuance with foreign policy but timing is everything in a lot of ways. what do you make of this move and why russia would say this now? >> hi, jenna. i don't know exactly, russia is obviously frustrated with some american policy. as you know president obama came into office looking to carry out a russia reset as he put it and re-establish the working relationship with moscow. i think he had some important success on a couple of issues in the first couple of years. and as a result, russia's cooperated with us on iran sanctions. it's cooperated in our bringing a lot of supplies to afghanistan through the north which was crucial this past year as pakistan shut down the traditional supply lanes for six months through its territory. and we also saw the creation of a new arms control treaty which probably had only limited direct benefit for either country but put their relationship back on a little better footing. but in the last year as you know or year-and-a-
