today, robo loco made a major announcement and our mike conneen tells us how the team will still be able to participate in a national competition in st. louis later this month. mike: with financial help from the loudoun chamber of commerce and several i.t. companies including orbital a.t.k. and b.a.e. systems, the loudoun education system presented a $15,000 check to robo loco a high school robotics team from loudoun county schools. last weekend, the team was named at a runner-up at a regional robotics competition in tennessee but an s.u.v. containing the team's computers, trophies and robots were stolen from the hotel parking lot. since then they've been scrambling to raise funds and build up a backup robot. and today, they learned they would receive this donation to support their efforts and fund their trip. >> it's overwhelming. from waking up on sunday morning to lose everything to just in a few short days we are so grateful for all the outpouring support we've received. >> the response has been really impressive to me. it's very positive. never had any fear or anything. >> how quick

i'm mike conneen at the marine corps war memorial. you might be surprised who won't be paying for the restoration. leon: thanks to a multimillion dollar gift, the iconic war memorial depicting the raising of the american flag is about to get a facelift starting this summer. alison: that's right. it's the memorial's first major restoration since it was dedicated by president dwight d. eisenhower in 1954. reporter: with $5.37 million located by the local businessman and philanthropist, the u.s. marine corps war memorial will soon get a new plaza, fresh landscaping and most important, crews will restore the 61-year-old bronze statue that now looks greenish. >> oxidation occurs on the surface of the metal. that will all be cleaned and polished and waxed. reporter: the national park service says 230,000 visitors come to this site each year. while the project will take two years to complete, the park service says the site will remain open with only minor impacts on visitors. >> mr. reubenstein's gift will allow us to really demonstrate this
