those are the headlines...meteorologist mike hoffman joins us now with weather. mike, do we warm up any next week? thanks, tyne. absolutely. if you were cold last week or very cold right now you are definitely going to warm up. how much depends on exactly where you live, but it will definitely be more tolerable, are seeing a little bit of extreme drought there popping up in western portions of montana as it gets dryer there. the worst area of california, nevada continues to slowly shrink, but it is still taking a while as it does with long term drought we are also starting to see some pockets of slightly dry conditions in texas now. let's go day by day this week: we are going to see some systems moving across the country, this is going to be a pretty impressive one--it is either going to move up into the ohio valley or along the east coast, so keep that in mind as these two come together, but on monday it's going to be just light snow across the northern plains into the great lakes, little bit of snow in the mid-atlantic there some rain ahead of this system throug

those are the headlines...meteorologist mike hoffman joins us now with weather. mike, some pretty severe weather for many of our viewers this past week. do we get a break next week? thanks, tyne. the short answer is yes, because we won't see any severe thunderstorms this week and we are not going to see a blizzard. however, the eastern two-thirds of the country going to be very a lot of snow and maybe the northeast as well. drought monitor shows the only problem area out west doesn't really want to improve too much, but it is slowly, ever so slowly shrinking, the extreme and exceptional drought areas, but a huge difference compared to what we have seen the past couple of years, no real issues with drought, most of the eastern two-thirds of the country. let's go day by day: storm system in the greaty lakes, fairly strong snow system here, but it's moving so slowly it's mainly going to be a lake effect for those areas, snow all the way down into the southern appalachians, some rain showers along the cold front and then it is very dry to the west, very cold in the cen

those are the headlines...meteorologist mike hoffman joins us now with weather. mike, how's february shaping up? well, tyne thank you very much. we are definitely looking at an active weather pattern for the next ten days or of the lower 48 to end february. but to start off you can see this huge trough and storm system is going to be swirling over the great lakes for about a two-three day period here, because of this trough so this not only brings cold air over the continental divide to all parts of the country it also brings a fair amount of snow in the track that that storm takes, one up the eastern sea board, the other one sitting over the great lakes. you can see as we head through this week though it continues to bring cold air into the northeast and the great lakes, but we may as we head into next week go zonal and start to warm up in many part of the country. my thirty day outlook for temperatures: still below normal for the southern half of the lower 48 above normal north dakota back to the west coast, precipitation over the next 30 days above normal--kind
