right now back to you, mike inouye, how are you doing this morning? >> we'll get back to the san mateo bridge, christina. this is what we were talking about. the crew moved up the incline backwards and now moving back down over toward the foster city side, clearing the two lanes where road crews blocked overnight for roadwork and more folks filling in lanes. we've seen just that one right lane from foster city to the high-rise. we don't have a dramatic slowdown. more slowing expected westbound because as i saw from the live shot the crews hitting over toward the peninsula side as far as the morning commute goes. the rest of the bay looking good. we'll look north of the san mateo bridge you're pretty much at speed. little slowing highway 4 at 80, overnight roadwork there. no drama toward the bay bridge. little build for highway 4 in antioch and the tri valley. let's give you our live camera. little bit of slowing out of the altamont pass. by the time we get to dublin, we see a visible increase in the flow of traffic, headlights headed toward the dublin

here's mike inouye. >> we take you out to the tri valley we have quite a bit of slowing. you expect it for 580 westbound, in dublin, our traditional shot around tassajara and santa rita road. offramps bottom of your screen as they make that a tight bank on some of them, watch for slicker roadways. overnight drizzle and dampened spot leave slicker conditions. that's not a major problem for 580. 680 southbound two earlier crashes out of pleasanton sunol boulevard and highway 84 slower drives because of the two crashes on the shoulder action a distraction. once you get toward fremont you're all right 680 through the tri valley. moving toward 880, castro valley y shows slowing as well as 808 southbound through hayward and union city. that's your typical flow of traffic, typical build headed past san mateo bridge which highway 92 westbound slow or at least building up very slow on to the hayward side at the toll plaza. looking at northbound 87 in san jose, the south bay shows a typical pattern but north 87 at kurtner, third incident stretch on the shoulder and southbound 85 co

we check in with mike inouye. >> good morning, christina.that's something i wanted to show, flashing lights at the bottom of the screen are gone, just off the san mateo bridge. you can look at the bottom left corner they're gone. look what you can't see. that's what i just explained. coming off of the bridge the overnight crews cleared from both directions of the san mateo bridge and easy flow across the bay. speeds just below 60 miles per hour for most routes and continues to fluctuate as a few cars and one slower vehicle can skew the data making it look slower for the average. 24 eastbound crash headed before the caldecott and clearing. dublin camera a little bit of slowing coming off of the altamont pass and dublin, clear, easy drive and no crew like there was yesterday. back to you. >>> there will be a vote today on a new commuter ferry service connecting richmond to san francisco if as expected that deal is approved, it will still be some time before they float some boats, about $50 million will be needed to cover the cost of twoferries

right now we want to check with mike inouye who has a traffic alert. seems pretty serious, mike. >> christina, we're still getting details but it will be a huge issue for livermore. look at our live look. our camera over i-80 area. taillights are going eastbound. eastbound is where the crash is located. let's get you located with the maps. talking about the heavy flow of traffic. that's not the worst of it. the area where the camera is, westbound, your commute direction is really jammed up. by the activity eastbound 580. we currently have four out of five lanes, are blocked by a crash. a crash with injuries so severe they have to send a medical helicopter out there. as we know, the helicopter gets there they have to shut down the freeway so it can land to get the patient out of the area. we're still waiting for the right equipment to get out there to safety li stop traffic. that means big issues for both directions. westbound, commute direction, of course, traveling out of livermore to altamont. traffic has not built up there but it will be a big issue.

let's check on your drive, here's mike inouye. >> and 91 degrees.l right, over here, much cooler closer to the water and in our state. we're looking toward the bay bridge toll plaza, where we have the left approach a little bit light but we have plenty of folks coming to join in. look at your map, west 580 and north 880 coming in toward the maze, we have the volume of traffic and a crash west 80 at powell. there may be a little restriction or at least a little slowing because of a distraction but i don't think any lanes are blocked. chp is getting there on the scene but we don't see the pattern we typically do when lanes are blocked. the east shore freeway shows a build, a little bit of fog registering now on some of our cameras for the north bay. slower drive developing for concord, walnut creek interchange. slowing toward vasco and hacienda, two earlier incidents cleared from the freeway and the build is on slowing south 068 and 880 toward hayward and union city for the nimitz. here in the south bay your northbound routes continue their build, a t

he's always watching your drive, here's mike inouye. >> good morning, christina. slower drive unfortunately to kick off the week for dublin, west 580 there, that truck is slowing up getting off there at santa rita. we'll look at the map, overall flow, we had an early morning crash after 4:30 around the dublin interchange, set off the slow drive and still slow west 580 through livermore to the dublin interchange. couple of crashes here, pleasanton into sunol which cleared as well from the roadway, caused more slowing. that's the tough tri valley commute. over toward the dublin grade slowing there, clearing by the time you get through castro valley and slowing again off the castro valley y south 808 through hayward and toward union city, typical build toward union city and hayward for southbound 8 880. slower drive 92 san mateo bring and the south bay routes building for 85, 87. crash north 101 around tully had things backed up earlier than you might expect. let's get a live camera out here, where we typically see a big backup this time of morning, pretty easy towar

more on that in moments, how are we looking, mike inouye? >> we're looking better than the statistics. we have still a slower drive, but duo hopefully see label the of a recovery continuing. this is southbound from the coliseum all the way down past davis street. we'll look at your map. the reason i'm hoping for improvement, there you go for the speed, is the because of the clearing now. south 880 and davis, crash cleared all lanes and we do see recovery from red to orange now at bottom of the screen. we do have that megaphone there, marking the coliseum and of course the warriors playing tonight. that'll be post work traffic. that's counter-commute traffic, slowing slow down there. past the coliseum in towards the toll plaza. that's an easy drive. no problems at the maize, i have over on the right side, circled southbound 680 there getting in toward danville and alamo. we have a crash near the center divide. sounds like there was a traffic break over the last couple of minutes. that may be why we see the slowing. we'll get an update as soon

first we check your drive and see what's changing with mike inouye. >> we're lucky we can ski and surf on the same weekend. my gosh. over hoar no problem. the backup of the cash lanes cleared, all open for the morning commute at the bay bridge toll plaza. we'll look at your maps to show you the approach, upper east shore freeway no problems. eastbound 24 a crash over on the shoulder just before you get to the caldecott tunnel. it might contribute to a little slowing just before 60 toward the orinda area. westbound 580 the commute direction toward the dublin interchange. you see a typical pattern slowing for 84 and a little build out of the altamont. live camera where the arrow is, a crash has been reported west 580 at tassahara. no construction and no crashes. traffic is moving smoothly. farther beyond that we have reports of a crash at foothill no, slowing there just past the dublin interchange and in the south bay live look northbound 101 just north of 680. the entire south bay about this volume, this is probably heavy for the rest of the south bay and silicon valley. back to you. >>

mike inouye, good morning to you. >> that's right. i'm sorry about that, christina. didn't mean to jump into your report there. she also forecasts how well i breathe. right now, okay after i cleared that up. get a chance to take a breather. look at the map, though. nothing unusual about the backup we have. the metering lights on. there was a fender bender that's cleared some lanes in the last couple of minutes. the approach to the maze starting to build in the last few minutes. as we zoom out, you see it's a pretty organize pleasant drive. we're looking at the north bay with no delays for 101, all the way down toward the golden gate bridge. over here, westbound highway 4 as we move toward concord. the crash should be clear from the roadway itself. same thing for westbound 580 at dub line. our camera shows it over there just off the camera. you can see the crash moved over toward the globe point, but also sticking out into the slow lane. continue that slow lane right now. no real additional slowing right now. back to your map as the traffic moves slowly. and your nort

right now, want to check your drive with mike inouye. >> we have road crews blocking two lanes up the incline from foster city. folks are heading east toward the flat section. there you go. we've seen a number of vehicles clear, but we still have one blocking what looks like one remaining lane. look at your map. we saw some earlier slowing. they're moving slowly over toward the hayward side. we'll have another crew clearing in the next few minutes. that's the reason for the slower censors here. the dunbarton bridge easy. it's still early in your commute. here's the south bay. the freeways are moving nicely, but we want to point out the area where chris and bob have been following this. this is overnight where the officer was shot and killed. that's your closure. the suspect now dead at the scene. continued closures for center. use monterrey as your alternate. we'll take a quick peek at the bay bridge toll play sza, which clear right now. >>> coming up next, work has come to a halt in the bay area neighborhood where a young mother was killed by a dump truck. >> such a sad story there.

mike inouye, looks like you're running in. you've got something big to report. >> it's not a big deal, but i do have to show folks. thank you for holding for it for just a couple seconds. this smoke right here, i was trying to figure out what it was. you see the little fence there, a golf course nearby. this is just off 101. just north of mckey. got word of a fire. turns out that it's just a trash fire. no structures involved here. this is just north of mckey. sounds like between 101 and 680. there are no closures from what i understand, but i understand this just came into our live shot, so i wanted to let you know about it. you might see it from 101 as that schmo starts to spread out. looks like they have things under control. but that smoke will be a distraction. out to the maps, we show you that area, 101 a little easier build. i told you i'd give it a couple minutes to clear up. things did kind of calm down. we'll see it build again over the next 20 minutes, but nothing dramatic. a very smooth flow. anywhere north of milp

right now i want to check your drive and say hi to mike inouye. >> good morning, christina.oming toward the bay bridge that's one warning. the metering lights are on so you have a slower drive anyway coming off the maze and through here where the impact of the metering lights has traffic backed up past the west grand avenue/880 overcrossing toward west grand avenue already. toward the golden gate bridge as well some glowy lights but the roadway is damp but not wet. just keep that in mind. the off-ramps may be a little slick this morning all around the bay because of overnight rain, drizzle or mist, but there's the steady flow of traffic into san francisco. we're talking about 101 coming across the golden gate bridge but the green highlighted here, christina talked about the richmond/san rafael bridge, wet toward the toll plaza side, slowing because of slicker conditions, novato toward mill valley but nothing significant to show up on our sensors over here. the upper east shore freeway shows build hercules and the bridge. the metering lights are on. the issue with the reporte

right now, happy friday to mike inouye, we made it to the end of the week. >> we did.we also made it to a decent backup, that's the level we'll talk about, the bay bridge cash lanes are backed up. it's 5:38. the metering lights should be turning on just before 5:45, we'll see, sometimes traffic is so light as we look at your map for the east shore freeway, we have a light flow right now. sometimes it's so light they won't turn the metering lights on so we'll look at a smooth flow across the maze and the richmond/san rafael bridge as well. let's widen out the shot, southbound 101 through novato. the orange blob chance of possibly some low clouds or maybe a little fog along the coast, bodega bay and up in jenner. it's not a major commute spot at least. concord and antioch, not really any slowing as you're traveling westbound on highway 4. we'll talk about dublin over here, a little slowing for 580. the live camera we'll show you the volume of traffic traveling westbound approaching the dublin interchange an easy drive. approaching santa rita, eastbound might have more ca

right now, let's check your drive, say good morning to mike inouye. >>> good morning, christina. we have our chopper overhead. that crash in fremont and newark, that area right there. you see the flashing lights. at one point they had all lanes blocked. they may have stopped traffic once again. southbound 880 at thornton coming off the dumbarton bridge, you're jammed all the way into the area through fremont. looks like chp looking for some sort of evidence or debris. i don't know exactly what's going on but we see them search the area with search lights stopping all traffic for the time being. a big look as the chopper pans out. south 880 approaching. the on ramp stopped for the time being. the backup quickly picks up. we'll show you on the map toward the dumbarton bridge. southbound 80 jam. fremont boulevard or newark fwlovld get past the scene and jump on, probably just after thornton, actually, as you see the thornton avenue on-ramp was temporarily blocked as well. that will be a big issue coming off this dumbarton bridge merging with the folks coming off the san mateo bridge

here's mike inouye. >> we're looking over towards the bay bridge. the earlier showers haven't hit the bay bridge. not calming down, but we have some slick conditions. there's some sheen on the roadway. tighter turns can be an issue, because the grease and the oil have built up. as we look to the maps and we do see no big effect from those metering lights. now there's the backup for 580 and the berkley curve, it's just starting to build. looking at the maps, the green here shows you where the wet roadways are, starting to dry out for the upper east shore. the north bay, san rafael moves smoothly. we're moving south now, looking over here toward the oakland area. a little damp roadways. not a major concern. a smooth drive, and we do have the build over there for both 580 and highway 4. traditional as you're coming out of the east bay and in toward the bay itself. westbound your commute direction. here in the south bay, we have no real problems through fremont into san jose. but northbound 101, we have this backup. let's look at the approach toward the

42 degrees. 44 for the fifth inning and then by the end of the game, 46 degrees, but guess what, mike inouyeseball is back and we're sure excited about it. >> we are, we are. we are. hello, cleveland! just like a spinal tap out there, better result than their concert hopefully. toward 580 traffic still snarls a bit. we talked about the earlier crash as we look at your map right at the dublin interchange for westbound 580. the camera shot i showed you on the approach to the area and that rippled back and blended with the traffic coming in out of the altamont pass so that's more slowing than you'll see for 580 but looking better than it was before, smoothing out at least for that flow. now we have a new crash south 680 around highway 84 over on the shoulder, no lanes blocked but the distraction causing a slow start. now some spring breaks start this week mostly in san francisco and rotate around the bay for the next two weeks we'll see a different traffic flow. here in san jose northbound 101 we saw the early slowdown kick in and things are starting to lighten up over the last two minutes, nor
