i want to get straight to mike inouye right now who has been tracking this crash on 580 westbound. d marcus, it's a deadly crash. very sad news. the worst part of my job is to have to report this, but the worst part of the commute is also as a result. i'm stepping in right here, this big rig is the front one, there's another one behind it and in between those two rigs from what i understand was a car that was smashed and the person inside that car was died as a result of this crash. we have seen in the last few minutes folks getting off here, squeezing by emergency vehicles at eden canyon road. that is the only way they can get out of this big brachup, 7, 8 miles of backup. this critical portion of the east bay the speed sensors started to light up, we will give them a chance to adjust, still effectively closed as you travel off of the dublin grade and over toward eden canyon road west 580 out of the tri-valley and heading over to the castro valley y. folks will have to head north toward high 24. some folks are taking a longer route and trying to adjust, a lot of folks are head up h

let's check in with mike inouye right away. >> this is counter commute away from the bay bridge.hing lights. you can watch on the right flashing lights, next to it is a big rig on its side after hitting the center divide. it traveled across all lanes. doesn't look like other vehicles have major damage. your headlights coming toward you is the commute direction west 80 and a big distraction for these folks as well. as you look at the map, sig-alert for chp means at least a half hour. it's going to be longer. they have a right that rig. getting away from the bay bridge is not bad. slowing from emeryville past university, then things clear up. a bigger shot, westbound is impacted by the distraction. a lighter flow throughout the east bay, looking better than yesterday would have been. on the north bay, a crash 101 approaching san rafael jammed up there as well. the slow drive extends to cupertino, sunnyvale. >> we were looking ahead to hotter temperatures. it's already started to warm up. in the 60s for the peninsula. south bay, 62, 66. an ongoing trend, of course, clear skies and a

. >> name that bus stop -- >> mike inouye? >> it's not a bus stop it's just a bench. >> we can work it out. >> a lot of people back to work. >> it feels humid. >> this what the bay area had to deal with all weekend long. once that temperature dropped the humidity rising. it still feels muggy. when it starts out in the 70s and it's humid that does not help us out. also in the north bay with some higher humidity. as we go through the day we'll see those high temperatures reaching into the mid to upper 80s. the seven-day forecast is coming up at the bottom of the screen. in oakland expect a high of 79 degrees. some upper 70s for the peninsula. palo alto will reach up to 82. the mission district at 76 today. we have been talking spots like the tri-valley where temperatures have been the hottest. and as we start out the day we are still going to have that poor air quality, the smoke and the low clouds then temperatures reaching up to 85 degrees today. looking at santa cruz our temperatures hold steady around 70 degrees. clouds thro

mike inouye has been tracking several problems for commuters. >> as they righted the truck in san jose cleared that they were able to clear all the tire, the glass, all the debris. to the map because our photographer has been asked to leave the roadway. they opened all lanes southbound 101. this should quickly clear out. as you would expect that is the only real problem here. the rest of the bay is also moving well except for one key spot on the upper east shore freeway, approaching san pablo dam road. this truck that got sheared off, the top sheared off by an over crossing. you see all of this debris. a medium ridge truck. here that is the truck over on its side. all that cleanup has to go on there jamming up. folks coming into the area of san pablo, that will be an issue. that's a lot of physical labor, kari, and things are getting very warm, tough later on. hopefully they can clear this soon. what do you have for temperatures? >> a very hot day from the hottest weather since july of 2006 with this extended heat wave our temperatures in the valleys should be as hot as 115 degrees for

we want to bring in mike inouye for a closer look at the new report.working, right? that's a good thing. >> you have to drive. you have to live. bob talked about san francisco and san jose as two parts. east bay is also very tough. let's show you what's going on. the freeway, interstate 80 through berkeley and richmond, almost always, all times of day jammed up. this is the commute westbound past the well lit golden gate field to orient you off the bridge toward the bay bridge. this stretch almost always jam packed. as we look at the map, this is the area we see traffic. the entire east bay toward the bay bridge. here, the walnut creek interchange here, a lot of folks moving out over the last decade building up the community there. out of the north bay, pleasant hill, concord, a lot of friends moving to this area as well. housings was an option there. as prices continue to flow to the bay area, so does the commute. to widen the shot out, a lot of people moved out, we heard of the explosions and all the traffic is westbound 580. that commute starts very
