. >> we want to send it over to mike inouye. he's been tracking what's going on with the roads. a lot of people trying to get out of the area causing congestion in the area. >> the limited highway access we have up in the north bay. if you are familiar with the area, it is free of congestion. it's tough to navigate right now. i want to show you what we typically talk about. the commute here at the bay bridge, north is easy. highway 37, i got word that in the last few minutes, highway 37 is closed from i-80 to 101. that's between vallejo and navato. that's a critical part of the north bay. more traffic comes down, to the bay bridge, definitely across the carquinez bridge. i say don't do that. your bosses will understand. this entire area here, here, over in santa rosa are all expected major closures for highway 12 and 101. glen ellen, larger closures, avoid the area unless you are evacuated. off 101 at bicentennial is where tom jensen is at the hospital. you saw the flames. pet luna, navato and the area. >> santa rosa schools are closed. take a look at this video just into the ne

let's start with mike inouye. things are back open now? >> they are. about 3:30.y, very concerned. the bridge is a critical connector. you can see how much traffic is flowing, yes, in both directions. both sides are open. there's a fire on the westbound side. that is the commute direction. the map is on the foster city side. that is an issue as folks are coming off the bridge. only one lane now, only the right lane is blocked. there's no smoke. the fire is out. traffic is flowing smoothly over from the hayward side. if you want to avoid the activity, if you are worried about what's going on as far as the build for the commute, the dumbarton bridge to the south, the 237 connector westbound or the bay bridge, all of those east to west connectors are open. the commute is early on. right now, we have bob redell out there. bob, you are on the s

mike inouye is tracking two deadly crashes. >> video from the first crash scene. i'm going to get out of the way. the car mangled as it hit the center divider near automall parkway at 880. lanes reopened seconds ago. the car was going the wrong way on 880. chp was following this to get the car off the roadway. they crashed before they could get there and stop the car. we are looking at this scene. we are tracking it on the map, we had slowing. seconds ago, reported this is reopen. the parkway is now clear, traveling northbound. that's the first crash and car fire. it just cleared from this portion of the bay. another crash, a deadly crash in santa rosa that i'm also tracking, highway 101 and 12. that connecter is currently closed and two lanes traveling northbound. the second deadly crash this morning, this in santa rosa. traffic is light in the area. the traffic flows smoothly there in san francisco. this is not a happy way to start the day, but an important note. just getting back on the roadway in santa rosa. closer to the golden gate bridge, things are moving

right now we want to take it to mike inouye who has been tracking a lane closure this morning on 101,ut that has since opened, mike. >> that's right. in fact, it wasn't just a lane, marcus, the entire side of the freeway was closed southbound highway 101. the critical connection between the san mateo and dumbarton bridges. we will zoom in toward the area where we've followed in closure between whipple avenue and woodside road. they are both reopened and so has the traffic flow on the freeway in between. the reason we were concerned was this was an extensive investigation, again, all lanes are open but pete suratos is out, you've been following it since the beginning of the show. this involves chp, i think that's why things took a little longer. >> reporter: that's right, mike, those lanes reopened roughly around 5:40 and according to chp we just talked to them off camera they're telling us that this involved only one patrol car and that patrol car was en route to help another unit on the freeway. behind me you see that the traffic is typical of this morning. let's show you the scene f

i want to check in with mike inouye because there roads have been shut in their area. you say power lines are down now? >> more people are calling in. the evacuations are critical through the area. we have flooded roadways and closures because of the smoke and fire. the chopper shot was in this area. lakeville highway up here. down here, at the bottom of the screen is where the closure is off highway 37. the entire stretch is closed because of smoke and fire. trees down and power lines, signals out specifically in ruthersburg. it would be the case in many spots around the fire. sky ranger shows how widespread those fires are. calistoga has a closure for 128. closures on highway 101 through santa rosa. between springs and bicentennial where thom jensen is out there with other fires in the area. the fingers of fire through the area. south of here, the full closure of highway 37. along 101, the smart train is not running this morning and golden gate transit said no buses are going in or out. they don't know what roads are going to be open and they want to reduce the traff

mike inouye. good morning to you. >> it's a nice cool morning. we are starting out with clear skies. it's pretty much like it was yesterday. we had those temperatures in the north bay dropping into the 30s. no freezing temperatures, but, yeah, it's chilly. we take a live look outside in san francisco. right now, all clear. we will see those clear skies warming things up as we go into this afternoon. here is a look at the current temperatures. in santa rosa, 43 degrees and 48 degrees in livermore. morgan hill, 47. san jose, walking out the door to 51 degrees. as we look at the high temperatures today, in east san jose, warmer than yesterday, but still really pleasant. up to 81 degrees, then as we move over toward the east bay, 83 in danville and hayward, 76 degrees. breezy wind. won't be as windy as yesterday, either. we are going to start to feel the winds calming down, even for the evening. palo alto, a high of 79 degrees. san francisco, the marine reaching 65 degrees and 75 today in mill valley. we are going to have the widest range in our temp

mike inouye is tracking the traffic impact. is tracking the weather, though, because we know this is going to have a ser use impact on the cal fire. >> they are already exhausted. we have so many wildfires. think about the conditions in the santa cruz mountains. we have so much rain during the winter that we had a lot of brush just really grow and explode and then throughout these last several months, it's been so dry. now, everything is just fuel for those wildfires. so, a lot of things to watch here as we start out this morning, taking a live look outside in san jose. all clear skies, with a new wildfire in the south county and the santa cruz mountains. it has spread smoke into the morning. right now, cool temperatures, especially in the north bay that continue to monitor the conditions there with those wildfires burning in sonoma and napa counties. now, a new wildfire around santa cruz. looking at our temperature today, it's still fairly warm. warmer than where we should be for this time of year and our temperatures reaching

we want to go to mike inouye who is keeping track on what's going on on those roads. a lot of congestion up there. >> definitely. scott has done a great job from sonoma county, you guys just did an interview with him. we talked about calistoga getting evacuated yesterday afternoon and sonoma evacuated now and that's a lot of surface street traffic. we have had closures for 128 here, over here, 128 goes for a significant portion of this north bay shot all the way in towards geyserville, bob is talking about the fact that it's open, that's the way to get out of geyserville, closed through calistoga, closed past the atlas fire. a lot of folks were forced to come down 121, highway 12, 116, flooding these roadways from calistoga and sonoma evacuations. now, the latest i heard was that there was a closure for 121 also getting down between highway 12 and 37 that would take you down toward this way if you need to get to vallejo or novato. that was a problem. i haven't heard about it reopening but i haven't found any updates from chp. i would say avoid that portion and get ove
