mike. >>> recent covid spread prompting one county east of the bay area to ask everybody to mask up. this comes in the wake of the new north bay outbreak of breakout cases. cierra johnson is looking into both of these stories. >> reporter: let's start talking about yolo county. it's that county asking residents even if they are vaccinated to resume wearing masks inside, and it's because of the prevalence of the delta variant as well as a release of covid cases. the health officer with yolo county said 76% of the positive samples collected at the end of june to the beginning of july were, in fact, the delta variant. the health officer recommended fully vaccinated people along with those 65 or older or immuno compromised to wear masks indoors as a precautionary measure. so far we have not learned of any bay area counties issuing these type of recommendations. taking a quick look at the covid cases here in the bay area, that 7-day average per 1,000 people increased in some counties. we mentioned the break through cases here north of here in sonoma county, and there was an outbreak at a homeless shelter, and nine of the 59 people affected were hospitalized and six of them
