mike lee calls himself undecided. they both have been the champions of expanding the earned income tax credit. wanted it in the senate bill. didn't happen. i understand why senator rubio is frustrated. he was just trying to get a less than 1% increase in the corporate tax rate from 20 to i think 20.94 to expand the child tax credit. voted down. now all of a sudden ceahe sees higher than proposed still no expanded tax credit. where are you on this and how do you get senator rubio to yes if it isn't in it? the earned income tax limit, i think you meant the child tax credit. >> i'm sorry. yes. >> we take that up to $2,000 per child. expanded considerably. we take the amount refundable in the senate bill to $1,100. >> what about folks without children? another part of this? expanding it beyond that? >> if you don't have children you don't get the child tax credit. i don't think marco suggested people without children should get the child tax credit. this is meant for people with children, and it is an increase. a signific

but senator rubio and senators mike lee had proposed raising it more to $2500. using it as something offset from your payroll taxes. that was shot down. now those two gentlemen, senators lee and rubio are pushing for increase in the child tax credit. so they are both, rubio saying he is a no at this point. mike lee is saying he undecided. then there is bob corker, senator from tennessee, who was a no when the senate voted to send the bill to conference committee but he is now saying he is undecided until he sees the final text, based on what kind of debt this would add to the national, deficit, this would add to the national debt. so that is where we stand on that very issue. of course you brought up the issue about potential for the speaker to finish his term and leave. that came out of an article in "politico" in which they said the speaker, paul ryan, cheryl, had been telling members of his family that he was ready to move on. but of course you mentioned the statement from the speaker's office that is not the case. back to you. cheryl: really quick. she was as

little bit of last-minute drama today with senate and house leadership trying to get marco rubio and mike lee on board for the tax bill. both senators wanted an expanded child tax credit so that meant moving some numbers around in the overall plan. everything interacts with everything else because of the tight budgetary constrictions they are under. that meant they had to find a space for the expanded child tax credit to get the extra two votes in the senate for this tax bill. >> beyond the child tax credit, now that the final version has been released, what are the major differences between the house and senate and anything else of how they resolved that in conference? >> this is a major difference from what the house passed in terms of the tax cuts that will expire. that will take effect in 2025 because of the tight budgetary constrictions thereunder. -- they are under. they can add to the deficit by up to $1.5 trillion over the next 10 years which is something republicans have been criticized for by democrats who say that their fiscal conservatives and conservativism does not extend to tax
