senior markets commentator mike santo lee joins us now with the midday word. gs are pretty comfortable i think a lot of folks are saying if you look at the actual displayed behavior of the market, and what it is typically meant looking ahead, it's hard to really argue with the continued bullish case at least as a default. what i mean by that is five straight up months and if you look at that is happening in the past usually it's followed by further gains. when the market is up 10%. for a year. in the first half. all that stuff kind of fits you into that almanac style bullishness that says oh you noah? when we get this overbought and stay that way it usually means a bull market is under way. i think it's going to be time to wonder if we're building toward a moment when we're little bit too complacent about the fact that the outlook is now pretty sturdy. i don't know that we're there yet. it does seem like earnings are doing enough to keep people involved. and also the market keeps acting as if people don't have enough exposure. i don't see how that can be really

joining us is mike, sica and justina lee. are the bears wrong or are they just early? >> they have been wrong so far this year, and i feel like just to be more fair to them, is because giving a bearish case for stocks was pretty even earlier this year. everyone said, if you have continued monetary tightening, surely a recession needs to come along. and that is how inflation gets tamed. it seems like the fed has been able to perfect the soft landing, pretty miraculously. what this has meant for wall street's analysts, is that some have cannot say that, you know, we may have been wrong earlier, but we could still be white -- could still be right. we can wall street really maintain those earnings estimates in light of still some economic pressure in the u.s.? dani: michael, way and on this. the earnings picture combined with the monetary policy picture, does it add out to a bear case? mike: it does a little bit. we were talking about bears earlier. bears had it wrong, we can say so. people were expecting a very bad first half and a good second half. it is the opposite tha

our crime reporter henry lee, live tonight at sfpd headquarters with the very latest on this story. henry well, mike, there's anger tonight at san francisco. police shot and killed a man that residents say was mentally ill. but video from the scene does appear to show this man pointing what appears to be a gun at officers. cell phone video posted on social media shows a man pacing in the intersection of catalina and fairfax in san francisco's bayview and then he points what police say is a gun and officers opened fire, killing him. this view from skyfox shows evidence markers at the scene. our community is angry. the deadly encounter stirring outrage in the neighborhood. it is community continues to become wound on top of a wound. we never have a chance to heal. so no healing is being taken place. the incident began shortly before three wednesday afternoon when plainclothes officers arrested a suspect during this encounter. a second male unrelated to the arrest engaged. these officers. officer robert rocha says uniformed officers then arrived in a marked police car and realized this man was armed wi

ktvu crime reporter henry lee was in court and is here now in studio with the latest. henry well, mike, oakland chinatown leader carl chan told me he was very worried after this man was sentenced for attacking him because it came with no prison time. it turns out his fears may have been justified. a mentally ill parolee with a troubling history pleaded not guilty tuesday in the unprovoked attack of an 88 year old woman of asian descent in san francisco. our elderly asian community is in fear every day of walking down the street because of situations like this. san francisco da brooke jenkins says. 27 year old james lee ramsey kicked the woman to the ground near ellis and market streets at about 1115 friday morning. a witness saw the attack and held ramsey until police arrived, but not before he allegedly hit the witness as well. ramsey has bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, according to his attorneys. we have to make sure that people understand that there is accountability in this city. when a crime like this is committed. ramsey is the same man convicted of attacking oakland, chinato

mike mibach, the woman is nine months pregnant. authorities say they believe she and the baby will be okay. ktvu crime reporter henry lee has the latest on the investigation. a woman who is nine months pregnant shot in the chest in east oakland. it's absolutely devastating here in oakland where a pregnant woman can get shot. it's disgusting. the community is outraged. the shooting happened as the woman was sitting with a man in this infiniti g35 near 77th and international at about 930 wednesday night. several men got out of a car. at least one of them opened fire on the infiniti , which was riddled with bullets. the woman was shot and a driver. she was with took off driving several blocks. a 73rd in international oakland police soon determined that the two scenes were linked to the same incident. the woman was taken to highland hospital in oakland, where both she and her baby are expected to survive. i was horrified when i found out about it. oakland city council member kevin jenkins represents the area where the shooting occurred. the details are still coming in as
