army major mike lyons. sir thank you so much for being with us on this holiday weekend. i do want to ask about the fact that this is russia's 11th large scale attack on the country's energy supply. that is, according to kyiv. obviously, the energy supply is a frequent target of the kremlin. just before winter sets in. but i do wonder how much of this renewed aggressiveness from the kremlin is tied in your mind to the result of the u.s. presidential election well, boris i think all of it is. >> i think russia is racing to get to this point where they can claim some kind of strategic advantage over ukraine, given these kinds of strikes, knowing full well that attack missiles now have been released on the ukraine side as they continue to strike deep inside of russian targets there as well, with drones as well as that weapon system. >> but i think it's 100% knowing full well that the trump administration wants to get to some kind of cease fire. they want to end this conflict in some manner. the current administration doesn't seem interested in trying to even start to do that

army major mike lyons.erious is this record escalation of drone attacks, from both ukraine and russia? >> i think it is serious and we will see more of this as the trump administration takes their position in january, so, i think russia feels that time is running out on their side and they have to do what they can to get leverage over ukraine and ukraine has to do what you can to try to inflict as much damage on russia and really escalate as much as they can, you know, the president-elect has said that he will solve this problem. i'm not sure what that solution will be. i hope it's not at the expense of ukraine. i hope we don't give into russian demands completely but he has a solution and we will find out what it is but i don't believe the ukrainians think that it will be favorable to them. that's why they are increasing the drone strikes, if they could get some targets inside of moscow and increase the visibility of the war to russian citizens, i think it'll help their side. >> it's not just drones. bombs

joining me now is retired army major mike lyons. we're going to talk about all of this. i want to pick up sort of in the types of missiles that we're seeing. obviously, we talked about the the arrest, the hypersonic missile that was used first in the dnipro last week. but i just wonder what what do you assess as how that changes things on the battlefield or just sort of what you're seeing right now? >> so here's why that's different. >> that's called a mirv multiple independent reentry vehicle. and what happens is one missile gets fired from russia, but it hits multiple different targets up to ten within that system the mirv system, it was designed for nuclear weapons virtually unstoppable one one rocket can't take it out on one because of the multiple different ways it can enter the atmosphere. they fired it conventionally. they used conventional warheads to do that so that was the that was kind of the message that russia was sending to ukraine, that we've got this capability to do that fire. it goes at hypersonic speed, can't shut it out of the sky it's definitely a ne
