good afternoon, commissioners, mike martin i'm development project manager in the office of economic and workforce development. i wanted to take a few seconds at the beginning of our presentation today to give a little bit of the broader city-wide context of the project. basically for kind of linear story telling reasons we want to start with the broad picture and come to the specifics of the term sheet and a lot of the good thinking that has gone into the project itself and my role here is to be brief and also to talk about the partnership that is formed over the past several months that i have been involved and stretches back five plus years from today and obviously this is a great milestone. i think that the lead slide on our presentation shows a lot of how important this site is. it really, i think in a time passed we called it a cross roads, i have been calling it a hindge between the south of market and downtown and the growing areas of south and mission day and shipyard candle stick and i think that you see this opportunity outlined in yellow and you start to visualize what a

. >> good morning, supervisors, mike martin, america's cup project director and the office of economic and workforce development. very happy to be before you today and supervisor avalos, i want to appreciate the way you framed the hearing. i think it's exactly right. certainly we want to show both to the people in this room and the city that we are living up to our commitments and looking ahead to this year's events that we're able to do an even better job of bringing home the economic benefits and the social and sort of a broader, i guess, san francisco image benefits of america's cup. you know, i think my team remains very excited. and as do all the people who work with in city government and the event authority to put on a first-class event. and it starts here. it starts here with how we're paying for it. it starts here with how we're bringing jobs and opportunities to local businesses and local workers. so, i'm going to do a brief overview of sort of how we got to today. but in the timeline since december 2010, then i'll hand it off to representatives from the off to you from here.

i remain optimistic that we will be able to cover whatever the ultimate is, and mike martin will speak to that, excuse me, in terms of the city's costs evolving. the controller has reported on funds not only received to date, but forecasted to date. and i think in the report it represents that we are about another million one that is coming in pledges between now and january 14th that are going to go towards outstanding city expenses. that's this moment in time. not another day passing. we will had make progress on that front and we'll city planning to expand the program. we do shallv [speaker not understood], we have the 1sf donor program, and opportunities for donor recognition. all give a little [speaker not understood] bounce in our record which previously had been staying with us, [speaker not understood] have faith that the city is going to be able to pull this off. time and time again we actually demonstrated that. and the event authority has put life to this program as well and giving them -- we hosted two events quite collectively, [speaker not understood], we hope these event
