geoff: let's get to mike mccormick. mike: we are at the corner of black stock on the west side of spartanburg. i want to get out of the way so you can take a look at the intersection. there is definitely accumulation on the road and you can see where cars and trucks have been out so far this morning. we have seen people sliding around. some accidentally. we have seen a lot of the daredevils out here. they are flying and doing 360's as you can imagine, that is not a brilliant thing to do. if you don't need to be on the road, i strongly suggest you don't come out here. it appears the pretreatment the city put down yesterday definitely helped, but the snow and sleet that came down, starting at 3:15 a.m., is accumulating. it has now switched over to rain and occasional s leet. we did see some plows move across the i-26 on the west side of spartanburg. the city crews in spartanburg are on 12 hour rotating shifts to take care of the roads. we do see traffic out here. people are taking it slow. we have already seen the daredevi

geoff: mike mccormick is live. still good bit of ice there. mike? mike: i don't know you can see it, but flurries are coming down. the wind is blowing them this way. this is highway 29 going towards we have westgate mall over to the right. the roads not looking so great. they are slick, and the sheer solid sheet of white. whether it be compressed snow or snow on ice. you can see the plows scraping the road, but it is not getting all of it. in spartanburg, they say the roads are fun, but dangerous. they wanted to go out and have fun. they say a has not been a problem for them because they have only seen about four cars on the road. i just spoke with spartanburg emergency dispatcher. they say, no accidents right now, but they are warning, stay off the roads. they warned that the accident numbers will climb, just as they did yesterday. you can see this car going along behind me. it is dangerous. slow going, like that car, is the best advice if you are out here. if you do not have to get out, don't get out. they're close to 400 people wit power in spart

geoff: mike mccormick, again, seeing some ice there. mike: we have been keeping our eye on this card. you can see the brake lights and what looks like the reverse lights. some bushes, on the edge of a parking lot at a shopping center. it looks like different tires are off the ground. the driver is ok, just slid off the road. that is proof of how bad the roads are. we have talked to a couple of people who have been out joyriding this morning. they say it is fun, but dangerous. it is sheer white on all sides of the road. it is icy, slick. you might get a little traction on the snow, but not much at all. we talked to emergency dispatchers said they hope you will stay off the roads. they dealt with a lot of accidents yesterday, and are concerne of will rise and more people getting out on the roads. the roads are dangerous. police have been here, dot has been here to try to help the car that went off the road, and they were unable to get the car back on the road. beer keeping a close eye to see what will happen. greenville officials say that

let's send things right now to mike mccormick, out in the ice right now. mike, how are things right now in spartanburg? mike: well, right now here on the west side of spartanburg, we are seeing very slushy roads. this is blackstock road right by westgate mall. what's interesting, most of the accumulation we've seen because of snow has cleared up in terms of slush, because we've had so much rain this morning. but don't let that fool you. there is a lot of slush, and it's getting packed down in places, and it's getting colder and the wind is picking up here in spartanburg. obviously the concern as the temperature drops is that the slush here is going to freeze and become very slick. there's been a good bit of traffic out this morning. obviously not nearly as much as we would see this time of morning on a friday. so the traffic that has been out there is helping clear the roads, plus the roads were pretreated yesterday. those are helping. this morning, which are also lping clear out the roads. but again, very slushy, very wet, and no doubt slick in spots. situ

for a look at the conditions in spartanburg, let's go to mike mccormick. mike: you can see the city of spartanburg trucks are loaded with sand. the plows are set up, and they are ready to go. that is to treat whatever comes down. as far as pretreating, that has been going on all day long. crews have been out pretreating the major roads. they have been pretreating the areas around the fire, police, and ambulance stations. this crew was just read -- replenishing the city's supply of brine. the crews will begin their 12-hour rotating shifts at 2:00 in the morning to keep city roads clear. we did talk to emergency management. they are prepared to have their emergency operation center fully shelters. spartanburg. carol: the big concern in the and bridges. michael: mandy gaither is live and local in anderson county with whaha keepmandy: much of the interstate beside me has been pretreated, except in anderson county. crews are expecting rain at the beginning of the storm, and they say anything they would put down on the roadways would be washed away. the salt brin
