ktvu's mike mibach is on the scene. go live to mike for the newest information. >> reporter: i did obtain new information. a spokeswoman called me 5 minutes ago and told me the fire burned about 35 acres and 50% contained. three homes are still threatened. you can see the peak in the distance. the smoke is coming up from the fire. the first call came in at 12:32. when they arrived on scene, a dozen acres have burned. crews got on the scene immediately. 140 firefighters on the ground trying to contain the fire. they sent two choppers on the fire. no aircrafts up there because cal fire says they weren't ready, it is february, they weren't expecting a fire. if the fire gets more out of control and they can't get more containment, they will launch the planes if need be. there was a report from the person who called about the fire this was a controlled burn that got out of control. cal fire said they weren't doing controlled burns. the same goes for the napa fire department. it doesn't mean a private citizen was burning vege
