ktvu's mike mibach with who investigators are looking for for information about the attack. >> reporter: that assault happened middle of the afternoon in china town and investigators indeed are not only looking for the attacker but looking for a good samaritan who dime the help of -- came to the help of the woman. >> reporter: on sunday, may 10, mother's day, this woman just exited a muni bus and was attacked. >> she was assaulted by black female. struck in the head twice. she did get off the bus and there was a good samaritan who came in contact with the victim and helped her sit down and recover at the scene till she walked home. >> reporter: police say three days later the family found her unconscious and she was taken to the hospital where she remains tonight. >> this is a very severe assault. very severe damage and injuries. she doesn't deserve that. and not only that she suffered. >> reporter: police were not notified till the family called them this past sunday. at this time they do not know what bus line she was on. officers say she travels from china town to japan town and back

ktvu fox 2 news mike mibach, a lot of criticism. >> reporter: talking about reports of sexual assaultsng hidden by universities and not being investigated thoroughly. that has been the criticism towards major universities across the united states and the reason kamala harris directed colleges to notify authorities when a sexual assault is reported on campus. kamala harris with university of california president janet napolitano released a guide for law enforcement agencies and colleges to follow as a way to improve their coordination and transparency in sexual assault cases. one measure listed in the guide, school and police officials conducting joint interviews with the victims so they don't need to repeatedly go over the experience. california is one of a few states requires colleges to have agreements with local law enforcement and crisis centers in handling a response. >> what it makes clear is that there will be training. what it makes clear is that there will be designated points of contact. >> not only about reacting after, it is designed to prevent future harm. >> reporter: a f

i'm mike mibach. when will it clear? good question. rosemary, it's kind of the cap on what has been a gloomy month and most -- in month of the bay area. >> right. we're cooling down again today. parts of the coast where it's been mostly cloudy and folks at home are saying it never warmed up, what are you talking about? well, we have a cooling trend coming our way. it will be most pronounced for our inland cities because what some don't know is areas like antioch hit 88 yesterday. oakdale was 93. so our inland communities definitely had a big warm-up yesterday. the temperatures coming down by 5 and 10 degrees for the afternoon. we're going to continue with our cool pattern into the afternoon. we have a system sitting off- shore. that is bringing on the changes. right now fairfield reporting 23 mile-per-hour winds with a gust to 26. this is going to continue as we get into the second half of the day. temperatures now 53 degrees in walnut creek. 51 san francisco. low 50s in and around santa rosa, novato, napa, all 50 degrees. along the so
