ktvu's mike milbach explains why the decision was made to eliminate jobs in favor of technology. >> reporterthe golden gate bridge, thousands cross it every day. >> it is hard to find a job. >> reporter: don has commuted to the job for 20 years. it is her home away from home. >> every time you turn on the tv, you see the bridge. it is a part of me. >> reporter: the bridge's board of director voted to eliminate her job and the job of other toll takers as early as september 2012. 33s of the drivers use cash and that is what this story is about. you take away the toll takers and the district saves $19 million. >> it is unfair they get to lose neighbor job over it. >> i think we have to say it is worst the savings. but i regret that people will have to suffer. >> reporter: but the decision is a part of a plan to collect all tolls electronically, a move designed to slash the budget deficit. >> this is my sister. >> reporter: her sister a toll taker and working lane 3. >> i have been working here 20 years and i have a son. and it's really sad because we are truly a family. >> reporter: two sisters
