mike murphy with us this morning. mike? tomorrow, fed decision day.oes it really matter if interest rates are, fed rates go down 25 basis points or 50? does it matter? >> it doesn't, stuart. what matters is that we know what the fed is going to do. they are going to cut rates and the messaging around that, will have an impact longer term but you're seeing markets sit here all-time highs right now because we're about to start a cycle where rates are going to come down, so right now, the market is here, because it still looks like the soft landing is in place. it looks like the feds going to be able to reduce lower interest rates, without having a massive slowdown in the economy. that's what the data is telling us now. now that could still change over the next few months, but if it doesn't, that's the fed could then take a victory lap. say we did what we had to do. we reduced rates. we got inflation under control, and us corporations continue to increase earnings. stuart: you never wrecker mend selling out of the market or never is a strong word but you

mike murphy is here with a stock pick.ock pick down 7% today. >> 7% today and just about 15% in the last week, stuart. the earnings came out and not quite what wall street wanted, but it was a great quarter from nvidia. when this cane is on sale down 15% for people at home not having a opportunity to be along for the ride, it's a great opportunity, 15% on sale. stuart: you'd be a dip -- not you personally, other people would be a dip buyer. >> i own nvidia and haven't added but if the weakness continues, i probably will. stuart: netflix on a tear recently and backed off 3% today and netflix is really winning the streaming wars. >> there's a few hundred more points by the end of the year and some weakness here and when you see what everyone else is announcing and what's coming out of netflix they're winning and have pricing power and have customer demand and password protection going with them on netflix to rally into the end of the year. stuart: king of the streamers and going to compare for them. stuart: ashley: stay ther

mike murphy on the phone, the dow is down 689 points.this have to do with harris's good showing in the debate last night? >> good morning. i think it has three things to do with her debate. she held her own against donald trump and the market is telling you right now her policies, more of the same policies and increased policies from the current administration, like green energy sectors is not what the market wants to do. stuart: i would think the positive inflation data, 2.5% prices. that is good news for stocks. >> we are in our into the market day, that's good news for the market and that tells you inflation, the fed is going and they cut rates, 25 basis points. no it is getting scooped so that is good. this is an initial reaction from the debate performance, things are going to normalize. we had in her administration for the last three years, the market has done well in that time as well so regardless, they do it again, and people see the right thing. i give the american people credit. they will see through the performance last night

stuart: doesn't make sense to mike murphy because he doesn't do crypto. >> you need clear regulationt's not just if you step out of line, we'll find you. there should be something to know what out of line actually is. stuart: know the rules and get on with it. thanks, mike. stuart: former girlfriend of sam bankman-fried will face sentencing from a judge this afternoon. kelly o'grady outside of the courthouse in lower manhattan. possible she could walk away without any jail time? >> absolutely possible, stuart. the reason being she was the star witness in the sam bankman-fried trial. she was really key in getting that conviction for the prosecution. now, remember sam bankman-fried was sentenced to 25 years behind bars but originally he was facing up to 110. that is the same sentence facing caroline ellison today and her team is looking for no jail time with a supervised release of three years and now both sides, they're actually on the same page. they're both pushing for leniency. the prosecution even wrote a memo of support calling her cooperation "not only substantial but exemplary"

[laughter] t a dividend grower. it at about $16, and the dividend at the time was 3%. now it's at $50, and the dividend on what we paid for it is about 18%. that's what dividend growth is for, is to get dividends growing over time. and, ultimately, that's why stock prices go higher, because cash flow is growing, earnings is growing. if they're not growing, the stock price isn't growing. and if they are growing, they should be returning more of it to us to constant9ly derisk our -- stuart: cisco -- >> 17 times earnings we've you've got to pay 50 times earnings -- stuart: yeah, i'm willing to pate because i've got a capital gain. moving on, what do they do? >> they are the largest maker in the country petrochemical, so deals with commodities. big factories out of houston. definitely has exposure to what the price of oil or natural gas would be. cosmetics, plastics, all these things. we love the company. it's vital to the american economy. it's not as exciting as a moth or tech company, but you've got a dividend yield

and mike murphy, veteran strategist and codirector for the center for the future at the university ofrnia. amy, politico says democrats are lying to raise money to flip the house. what do you think? >> i think mike johnson will try everything. if he has the power to do it he will try everything to overturn the election and if it does not go trump's way, that is what i think. this is why the down ballot races are so important because we only need four seats to flip the house, so we have to think about that. >> mike, republicans close to johnson say no he is not trump's lapdog. they cite the example that mike johnson supports supporting ukraine, donald trump doesn't. that is there evidence. what do you think? >> i think it pays to be paranoid when everybody is out to get you so if i were the democrats i would be worried too. they made big rules changes. >> explain this. while we were all sleeping. >> while we were all sleeping the grown-ups got together and probably mitch mcconnell's office and decided we have to patch the software. we are working on 1898 rules where it was like you are

let's talk more about this with long time political strategist mike murphy and national reporter for of nate cohn's analysis? >> i looked at it and it is intriguing. i haven't dug through the data yet. call me skeptical but ready to be convinced. you know, when i look at the state polling and some of the private stuff i see, it is narrowing. i get the argument. but i'm telling people there is only one poll, the murphy poll, you're one point behind. we get into the psychology of this, it is okay, electoral college, no, no, no, this is a tight race and she has work to do. >> and trump was out there bragging about how much she's going to win louisiana, i don't think that will change the electoral count that much. trump had some success winning some black and latino voters elsewhere which helped him drive down the margins of defeat in california and new york, but not helping him so much in the michigan, pennsylvania, wisconsin trio because of the preponderance of white voters there, harris at this point is doing fairly well with them per polling. and we should underscore, i think no one
