mike nicco will be on at 4:30 in the morning and continuing through 7:00 a.m.rm. 5:00 a.m., the rain coverage actually lets up but there will be pockets of moderate to heavy rain. 6:00 a.m., it is still there. by 7:00 a.m., you will start to see some areases break up. and then at 8:00 a.m. as you take the kids to school they will need the raincoats and the umbrella and the rain boots. 10:00 a.m. look at light to moderate rain. this continues at noon, afternoon, evening commute with scattered showers. the showers just go on. you saw that moisture plume stretching. this is what an el nino enhanced storm can do. at 10:00, 11:00 we are going with scattered showers. heavy rainfall expected in the mountains. we can see up to two and a half inches. most areas are looking at .80 to over an inch and a half in santa rosa by wednesday night and that's just with one storm. the winter storm warning starts at 8:00 a.m. storm and runs until 10:00 p.m. expecting the snow level down to 4,000 feet. up to 14 inches for the highest peaks. and it is going to be difficult traveling

so joining me in the studio right now is our own el niÑo expert, abc7 meteorologist mike nicco. call you "science mike" because you're so smart on this stuff. >> i try to be, try to be well-read on it because it's my job to prepare everybody. >> yeah, and so what is el niÑo? or should we be calling it something else? >> i think it's great you asked that because -- let me dovetail that into the question i get asked all the time -- is, "when is it going to get here?" well, el niÑo's here. it's simple what it is. it's just a body of warm water in the eastern equatorial pacific area that influences global weather patterns. and that's what makes it so important to us, is that it could steer more storms and more storms with more moisture in them our way -- hopefully not that much, like we saw there. but that's why it makes it important. >> all right, so, we want to just give folks seven things that they should know about "el niÑo." or should it be the el niÑo effect? >> i like that -- the el niÑo effect, or the el niÑo influence on our weather more so 'cause -- yeah, let's take a look
