let's go live now from captain mike perry. >> reporter: it's a good thing we were able to stand off a little bit. we are back near bay view hospital. looking kind of eastbound. what you're looking at is martin state airport. which has been under a heavy thunderstorm. now, looks like these thunderstorms are set up almost a horse shoe around the city. we have it up in the towson area. parkville area, long green area. two working rescues now. one at loch raven reservoir alt the fish -- at the fishing center. another off of harford road. a lot of heavy rain, a lot of lightning. not much wind that we've heard of. but we have heard of a tree down on putty. there are wires down in the roadway. these brings -- bringing some winds with it. but just about one of the best lightning storms i've seen in quite sometime. looks like the storm is not moving real fast. it's kind of set up camp here between towson and martin state airport. it's raining very, very heavily. we'll continue to monitor the situation. >> thank you very much. wjz is always on. check in with eyewitness news for up-to-date, firs

captain mike perry is there. what's going spoon hi, mary. more of an extension of the same water main break yesterday around 2:30 in the afternoon. a 10" water main break occurred at the intersection of falls road and northern parkway. public works officials have been on the scene all night and apparently around 9:00 or 9:30 this morning, secondary water main broke in the vicinity they had been working on so they have taken all traffic all of southbound falls road and moved it continue to westbound northern parkway. the big delays here as you are coming southbound on falls road. right now you can expect delays in the area throughout the afternoon as the rush hour comes. and you can see public works officials working farther down near the cross keys village on falls road. that is in the northbound direction. expect delays in the area throughout the afternoon especially during rush hour. back to you on tv hill. >> captain mike perry, thank you. >>> the two american journalists jailed for months in north korea are back in the united states. for

. >> okay, captain mike perry, thank you very much. wjz is always on. for updates on this story and video from the scene, log onto wjz.com. >>> the other big story tonight, the crime that sparked outrage across the region, a man brutally attacked, police say because of his skin color. now, three suspects are in custody. derek valcourt is live at central booking with more on the arrest. derek? >> the other victim said there were three attackers late last night. police tracked down two teenagers they say helped commit this violent hate crime. >> these are the faces of the three men, at the center of the investigation. into one of the biggest hate crime attacks baltimore has seen in recent years. all three are now accused in the brutal beat being and carjacking of a 76-year-old african american fisherman at fort armistead park. 14-year-old zachary watson and miller both arrested separately at their home last night. police said they were ocomp lises -- accomplices. >> i think the consensus is that mr. lockner played a leading real roll in a lot of this. >>

captain mike perry has details for us. mike? >> reporter: hello, vic. this is a confirmed drowning at pleasure island, which is a popular boating and swimming park off of miller island and dundalk, baltimore county. the forest park service has a ranger in this area. apparently a 26-foot boat was off of pleasure island, when a rescue was called in. apparently initial information was that someone had jumped off the boat and drowned. upon arrival of firefighters and police officers, a victim was found tied alongside this 26-foot boat. and this was a male that had drowned. he has been taken from the water. and been confirmed dead at this point. now, police are investigating this as a suspicious death at this time. they do have investigators from the maryland natural resources police on scene and also other investigators en route to the scene, to investigate this. at this point, there is no word on exactly how this happened. but stay tuned to eyewitness news throughout the evening. and we'll continue to keep you updated as we get more details. back to you on

captain mike perry. >> now on to or other top story. paramedics have been reassigned. an is still alive after being pronounced dead. eyewitness news stays on the story. good afternoon mike. >> good afternoon everybody. the person shot is a man in critical condition. the fire department is in charge of all medical technicians. they have an excellent record and renowned throughout the country but promise a thorough investigation into what went wrong in this case. >> reporter: a police officer shot 51-year-old michael quarrels in the head at this store on garrison boulevard after the man lunged at him. paramedics rushed to the scene and determined he was dead. what happened next raised serious questions about their response and spurred an investigation that could lead to the medics losing their licensejobs. >> they determined he had signs incompatible with life and pronounced. they left the scene. shortly there after they returned at the request of the police department because the victim manifested or gestured signs that gave them indication he was not expired. >> reporte

. >>> captain mike perry is in sky eye chopper 13 with details of an attempted robbery. and the suspects, police say, were holed up inside a home. mike? >> reporter: yeah, hello, kai. it all sarted -- started around 10:30. baltimore police had a strong- arm robbery. this happened about 10:30 this morning. two suspects entered the gas station. struck the owner in the head. causing some injury, and fled the scene. apparently police received information that the suspects, two of them ran from the scene, ran into a house in the 4300 block of mary avenue, which is just off bel air road in the northeast district. police had laid siege to that home most of the day. from around 11:45 this morning. when you see s.w.a.t. teams driving away now. entered the residence. found at least one suspect inside. and a 94-year-old man that was also held inside that home for most of the day. now, the 94-year-old man was transported to a local area hospital. there is no word on his condition. the suspect, one at this point, who has been taken into custody by baltimore city police. the second sus
