joining me now to discuss is congressman mike quigley, a democrat from illinois, a member of the housentelligence committee. congressman, you know what the president is talking about in terms of conflict of interest. he's talking about former fbi director andy mccabe who was fired over the weekend, 26 hours before his retirement. the attorney general jeff sessions put out a statement that said both the office of attorney general said mr. mccabe had made an unauthorized disclosure and land candor. if andy mccabe land candor, should he have been fired? >> i think what really happened here is they realized he's a witness against them and he fired them, the short time before his retirement they lacked candor. they sped up part of the i.g.'s investigation and i think it was cowardice, and it told the rest of the world you mess with us, this is what you get. it's not how you handle an investigation and it not how you handle people who have dedicated their life to keeping us safe. >> the inspector general is morals apolitical, the office of professional responsibility is basically as apolitic

i'm joined by mike quigley. thanks for being with us. >> glad to be here. >> you're so happy to have you. you heard your colleague there saying there's quote significant evidence of collusion between the trump campaign and russia. do you agree with that? >> absolutely. here's what i would add. there's a lot of evidence we're not allowed to see and a lot of witnessed that were never subpoenaed and who could have answered questions that would have added or subtracted -- >> i just want to interrupt you, he's talking about what -- talking about what you were able to see. >> sure. >> based on that he's saying there's significant evidence of collusion but also seems to be admitting whether this rises to a legal threshold is unclear. what do you say about that? >> i would agree. all i was adding, there's a lot of other opportunities to find more but that the investigation was shut down and others were not allowed to testify. i think there's ample evidence there was collusion. i don't know what that word means legally.

joining me now is mike quigley of illinois on the house intelligence committee. congressman, thanks so much for being with us. a lot of us read this article and said, wait a second, the special counsel looking at possible influence from the uae? not russia? is this an issue which has crossed your desk in the house intelligence committee? >> well, here's what i would tell the american public. this is exactly why the investigation has to go on. you reference whether this is bigger than watergate, it is far more complicated than watergate. if watergate was algebra, this is calculus, because it involves not just russia, but other foreign counterparts. the money laundering that took place in eastern europe and cyprus, as far as the uae goes, here is what i can talk about, erik prince meets in the say shells with the uae. he refuses to answer about his past dealings with the uae. he also, by the way, when he's there, meeting at a bar in a hotel with the uae, despite the fact he lives there, oh, by the way, this is another russian finance chief that you should talk to a

joining us now eric swalwell from california and democratic congressman mike quigley from illinois.hey're both members of the house intelligence committee. congressman swalwell, you've been a federal prosecutor. what do you make of this attempt in the direct communication with high-level justice department officials to preserve robert mueller's job? >> it's critical right now, lawrence. we're at a period of the investigation where it looks like by the witnesses that bob mueller and his team continue to interview, that they are getting closer and closer to the president. and this is a very fragile time for the investigation in that the president has told the world, has telegraphed that he wants bob mueller gone. and he has allies in congress who seem to be okay with it. so the best thing that we can do right now is to cement bob mueller's role legislatively there is legislation to do that on the senate and on the house side. we should all come together and say that this investigation is important. not only to hold anyone criminally accountable for what happened in russian interabout
