mike quigley from the great state of illinois, appreciate it. lawmakers in the meantime in texas say they're closer to a deal on a controversial restrictive voting bill. it's still not fully clear what exactly is in the bill but a vote is expected this weekend and a fast texas will join 14 states enacted 22 laws that have restricted voting. msnbc reporter gary roebuck is at the state capitol reporting more on this. >> reporter: sometimes what isn't happening is more important than what is happening. let me tell you how we got to this point with this controversial voting bill in texas. it's the beginning of the month, beginning of may. they have two different bills related to voting rights. one was in the house chamber here and one was in the senate chamber in texas. a bipartisan conference committee made up of both chambers got together behind closed doors and decided for weeks what is going to be in this bill. we still do not know. we do not know what is going to be in this bill, but there's two points advocates are really worried about provisi
