mike rogers who joins me from miami. you heard what lindsey graham said.e said this is getting to be more than what susan rice gave us an explanation. he said we're talking about a complete breakdown in the intelligence, in security, in everything concerning that benghazi mission. what's your take on that? >> well, i have reviewed all of the threat warnings by the intelligence community. there were multiple threat warnings, well over 200. i have read the priority warpings. i believe that the intelligence was good. now, it couldn't say at a certain time or on a certain day. there had been prior attacks. ... it's well known the attack on the british ambassador, attack on the red cross. they both pulled out for a period of time. the fish bomb thrown over the fence which is not much but is an indication. this is an interesting facility. because it isn't a consulate, as senator graham said. it's a mission, and the number of state department people there were very few, just one, two, or three at the most. and there were no records or visas that i know of. it rea

mike rogers is the congressman from michigan, the chairman of the house intelligence committee. let's get your immediate reaction to the breaking news. what do you think about this, congressman? and ambassador rice was facing an uphill battle in the senate for any confirmation and i think it may have distracted from north korea and the issues going on there and chemical weapons and opposition that we don't fully understand. we have a growing al qaeda attack. when you look at all of the challenges that the secretary of state is going to face, this would have been distracting from those issues because i think there are a lot of senators who were concerned about her statements and her positions when it came to the benghazi aftermath. >> as chairman of the intelligence committee, are you confident you now know everything you need to know about what happened in benghazi? >> i think we're getting a better picture every day. we had another closed hearing to try to see days after benghazi and it's going to take some time to go through all of the information. i feel very strongly, wolf,

. >> joining me now is michigan congressman mike rogers, chairman of the house permanent select committeetelligence. mr. chairman, thank you very much for joining us. >> thank you. >> you've seen the report, benghazi. what went wrong? >> oh, boy. it was a whole series of things, andrea. so the information that surrounded the special mission there, there was some 200 ports leading up to it that talked about this security situation deteriorating, and they knew it, and so the folks there at the special mission were asking for help and asking for higher security. we know that tripoli asked. the report said they didn't ask hard enough. it's really not their responsibility. so what happened was they had all this information, and they processed it through the state department, and that leadership just failed to note the security around that -- around the ambassador when he traveled to benghazi, and a security of the special mission. not that they had to have it as a standard mission security status because it was a temporary facility, but the physical security part of it was just so wrong to fit

as a matter of fact, one key chairman in the how many times, mike rogers, he's from michigan, he's chairman of the house intelligence committee, doesn't have direct stake in this but he did emerge from a meeting in the speaker's office and told our frank thorpe that he thinks what he's been hearing, at least without that sequestration or a delay in the sequestration, could not pass the house of representatives. so there's always that problem as well. it's been thought all along by some people that going over the cliff would make it easier for something to pass the house of representatives. you know the logic there. they'd be voting to cut taxes as opposed to allowing them to rise on the top 1% or 2%, something that's anathema to the core of the republican party. there are theories put forward by many democrats that john boehner would not put any type of tax vote that would inflame his cause cuss, inflame conservatives around the country until after that gavel is safely in his hands when the new congress is sworn in on january 3rd. so things are still very much up in the air. we do know they

these are all senior managers here is mike rogers. >> they did two things.blamed the ambassador who is no longer with us. they said he made a lot of mistakes. big bureaucracy made a lot of mistakes. we don't find anyone that we should name to be held accountable. i just don't think that's right. >> one of the big take aways from the hearings this week were these classified cables. lawmakers wanted to know how many of these classified cables reached the seventh floor. this is the executive floor within the state department where you find hillary clinton's office. at least one of those cables was first reviewed by fox news and it talks about this emergency meeting back in august where they convened, outline the top security people in benghazi and the cia and they warned her office in washington that they could not defend against a coordinated attack. we have got a quote interest that right here. the regional security officer expressed concerns with the ability to defend posts, that is a consulate in benghazi in the event of a coordinated attack. it goes on to
