mike. welcome back. 4:32. new this morning, less than a week after a man was found shot in the head on the deanza trail in pittsburg police are investigating a second shooting there. christie smith is live in pittsburg with this. this is a strange one. >> reporter: yeah, it is. good morning to you. details are still coming in but i did speak with someone from east bay regional park police, they say that there was a shooting around 11:55 last night. they found a man down on this trail, the delta deanza trail in pittsburg. this follows a shooting days ago of another man in the same area, the "mercury news" now reporting that person a 20-year-old male from the pittsburg area, has died from a gunshot wound to the head. in that case it was believed not random, occurred at 11:30 p.m. on wednesday. no word yet on this victim's condition or a possible connection to that shooting. we're told he was taken to john muir medical center for treatment and there were no arrests in this latest shooting. there are reports that neighbors heard gun fire and they were the ones that phoned it in which led police to come here and found a man down on the trail. i also have calls this morning into the p

mike. 6:32. breaking news t u.s. coast guard found a 62-year-old wind surfer missing since last night. christie smithlive at yorba buena island with the good news for us. good morning. >> reporter: it's great news. it doesn't get better than this. 62-year-old kathy katan has been found safe and sound on the north side of the san mateo bridge. crews had been searching throughout the night. the coast guard had a 41-foot boat, a helicopter, they happened to be flying around near the shoreline and they found her. about wind surfer was on her board. missing since yesterday after 5:30, she had a number of factors on her side. >> there's a lot of things that could have led to the rescue. the warm water was probably a huge help. the calm seas probably a big help and the visibility has been great for the search. and having a lot of assets out there probably helped a lot too. >> reporter: we have a live picture out of the foster city area where she went missing. we're told she's in stable condition this morning and doing quite well. she is going to be taken to a hospital to be evaluated as a precaution. she is

mike just begin with brilliant gold. >> i'm kristen sze. >> i'm in terry mcsweeney for eric thomas. california state university governing board is meeting to consider another hefty tuition hike for fall semester. nick smith where students are adjusting to a recent 10% increase. >> absolutely. just in a few months, students can expect to pay more. the board of trustees will meet to consider a plan to raise undergraduate tuition by 12% for the coming fall term. this is on top of the approved 10% for the cal state system. take the previously approved 10% and suggested 12% hike, students would be paying $1200 more than just a year ago. raising the annual tuition for in-state undergraduates by 3588 to $5472 a semester that would -- a year that would not include room or board or campus fees. u.c. students face a 9.6% hike if the board of regents approve their increase next thursday. theirs would be the ninth fee increase in eight years. us a might suspect both boards cite budget woes. they say the additional increase is necessary because the newly approved budget needs to reduce the deficit. we are expecting students to, indeed, protest when the board meets this morning. we're live at san francisco state, nick

smith. laura, back to you. >> thank you, christie. also this morning, a deadly big rig crash in san francisco. mikens us with the latest. >> we'll take you out there. this is octavia boulevard at oak street affecting 101 and into san francisco. here is a live shot. there's a glimpse of the ucsf shuttle and the car carrier both involved in this accident. sounds like about 6:20 the car carrier was northbound on octavia when it hit the shuttle carrying employees to jobs at sf general. one person was ejected because the impact was so strong. they landed under the carrier. the person is dead on the scene. three other minor injuries. and this investigation expected to take at least three hours. again, because of the death of one person involved in the accident, no one has been found at fault for this. we don't know who is but we have the slowdown expected for the city. use laguna or van ness as an alternate. a lighter volume getting into the city, of course we mourn the loss of the human life and of course we follow that traffic as well. the impact getting off of the bay bridge not yet a problem off of t
