nbc's mike tirico joining us live from milan ahead of all of the highly anticipated competition. re you are this morning. bonjourno mike. all right, here we go. a year to go for those games. opening ceremony coming one giorno. and to think about it is with these games coming, we know a lot goes into organizing all of this. can you talk about where the focus is right now? yeah. sure. it's getting ready in multiple places. this is a different olympics. think of salt lake city in the states, right? everything is centered in salt lake city. the mountains are 45 minutes away, less than an hour away. this is very different. we are in milan. this is the centerpiece of the games. but it's the milan cortina games. cortina is 150 miles, or about a five hour drive on mountainous roads all the way up in the dolomites, the mountains that are part of the alps on the italian side of the alps. so it's hard to coordinate the games being in various places. but things seem to be coming together, and the sense we have in our couple of days here of looking at the venues. this is an olympics. it's goin

mike tirico will be there with him, too.st this week. 72 million of us under winter weather alerts. dylan dreyer will break it down. tale of two storms. >> it is the tale of two storms. let's go through the details here. this is storm number one. this is storm number two and the watches and warnings associated with it. let's break down the first one. it is already starting to bring heavier snow through kentucky. charleston, west virginia, bringing some snow. heavy rain on the south side of it. snow will take hold across virginia. then it will move through the mid atlantic. this is not a new york city storm. this is a philadelphia, washington, d.c., type of snowstorm, whehere we cod end up with several inches of snow. you go further south across southern virginia. we're looking at ice and heavy rain and stronger storms associated with that cold front. then that will exit wednesday morning. here is the next storm for wednesday afternoon, wednesday night and early thursday morning. this is more of a snowstorm for the midwest. i
