let's bring in the vice chairman, mike warner of virginia. senator, thanks for joining us. >> yes, wolf, you actually can't believe all this stuff. it is pretty remarkable, isn't it? >> it certainly is. i know you've been briefed. you got a lot more information than we have. talk a little bit about what you've learned, i know there's sensitive information, classified information. but do you think that the former national security adviser, michael flynn, acted alone when he spoke with the russian ambassador about sanctions? >> well, we don't know the answer to that. first thing we've got to look at is the transcript of what happened between flynn and the russian ambassador. then you got to back up from that, assuming that it is what the press has reported is accurate and there was a discussion about taking off the sanctions, and remember, this was coming immediately after the obama administration had put on sanctions because of the massive russian intervention in the election. that raises huge concerns, to me. then you've got the series of que

. >> mike warner who is the vice chair. the intelligence committee works differently than any other committee. it is truly bipartisanly run. mike warner had concerns about this idea that the white house contacted senator burr that it could call into question about whether this will be a fair investigation. >> i think there is no doubt this will be a fair inquiry. we are well under way and it's been conducted in a bipartisan fashion and democrats and republicans have been working well on it and there is a limit to what we can discuss publicly and the eight democrats know what we learned and i would encourage them to tell the other 40 democrats in the senate what they may and may not want to be saying so they don't get over their skis making false allegations or other allegations. >> before you said this to go to the recess to go back home that it was a hearing. was that a hearing that you had with director comey? is that how we should describe that? >> i will want discuss what we may or may not -- >> you called it a hearing.

i just spoke to mark warner, the vice chair, democrat from virginia, of that committee. and he told me, he believes mikenn now needs to come up and testify in front of the committee as part of that investigation. now why does that meter? the committee has subpoena power. they've made clear they're willing to use it. it would need republican sign-off. that's the big question here. in terms of who is looking into this, how much power do they have? if there's an investigation, one with teeth, the top democrat of that committee told me, mike flynn needs to come in front of that committee and testify. and that committee has subpoena power, if it's willing to use it. one other note, i spoke to senator bob corker, the chairman of the senate foreign relations committee. we heard a lot of republicans say this is a done issue. maybe we don't need to look into this. corker was clear. there sore many things going on right now. congress needs to take a deeper look into this. he didn't say whether his committee would do that. at least on the senate side of things, it's something people need to keep an eye on. delve d
