williams is standing by with reaction. casey stegall is in dallas where police officers fighting for his life after he was shot. first, mike tobin live in chicago. mike? >> dana, anyone willing to make the argument that chicago is out of control has this weekend to point to as evidence. predictably, the fourth of july weekend is violent, more violent than predicted. as you mentioned, most violent weekend of the year with 18 people killed, 100 people shot. two of them were cops, some of them were kids. as often happens with gangland shootings, innocents get shot in the cross fire. this weekend 11 children were shot. children were shot during a stretch from sunday to monday morning. the 6-year-old girl was shot in the poem the neighborhood were roughly eight hours later a 5-year-old girl was shot. ad hoc crowds were a source of chaos and contributors to the violence. a police commander and sergeant were both shot as they attempted to run off a group party around 1:30 monday morning. someone fired into the crowd, one officer was shot in the leg, another shot in the foot. speak of celebratory fireworks going off, had a spontan
