mike miller plays with the miami heat.chols has our story. >> reporter: you can call it fate or fortune or karma but back in 2007 mike miller and his wife jennifer called it a gift, $1 million to children's hospital in his his native south dakota. >> that is something that we wanted to do for the area where michael was from. >> the hospital named their pediatric care unit after the millers. jennifer found out she was pregnant with the couple's third child, there first girl. >> tell me what happened. >> we came back from chicago after game two at about 430 in the morning. we had jaelyn. they said that she was not getting blood. >> reporter: doctors told the millers that's there 6-pound baby was struggling to breathe and she had five holes in her heart. >> i got to hold her for a few seconds and they whisked her away. >> it is just scary. they wanted the baby's heart rate to be between 40-50 and she was north of 100. >> reporter: for the next 10 days she remained in intensive care. mike was waiting at a chance for a champion

earl miller is the athletic-looking man on the end there. next to him is missy lehan, then there's franklin and then eleanor on this side of the picture. um, earl miller was a highway patrolman who was assigned to eleanor as her bodyguard when franklin was elected governor of new york. they became very close. he brought a sense of fun to the serious-minded eleanor. and here we see in this 1934 home movie taken at hyde park that the two of them are in a little play. and here's earl miller as a pirate, and he's about to kidnap eleanor, the first lady. they were quite close. they would go on walks together, she read poetry to him. she loved doing things for him, even cleaning up his house or his apartment, buying things for him. perhaps like an aunt looking after a favorite nephew. we don't know exactly their relationship either. but we do know it was close. and we also know that franklin did not want earl to come to washington as parking -- as pare roosevelt entourage in 1933, so he found earl a good government job in new york state. but elean

erika miller, "nightly business report," new york. >> susie: popular sure, but profitable? that's yet to be seen. shares of internet radio company pandora media soared at the open to $26, but it traded down through the day, ending at $17.42. the strong demand for pandora shares show there is once again great investor interest in hot internet companies. but as darren gersh reports, many analysts think pandora could be too hot right now. >> reporter: they have good reason to party at pandora. a few days ago, analysts had valued the company at just over $1 billion. but pandora ended its first day of trading worth around $3 billion. that's far higher than analyst anupam palit expected. >> i think, based on my estimate for sales this year, my valuation gets to about four times sales, which i think is pretty reasonable and where we are seeing it right now is about 12 times sales. so i think we are getting into stratospheric valuations, which i don't think can be justified by the underlying fundamentals. >> reporter: users love pandora. punch in a song and pandora's music genome s

erika miller reports. >> reporter: these are unsettling times for financial markets. but if there's one man who can calm nerves, it is the chairman of the federal reserve, ben bernake. if he shows strong conviction in the economic recovery wednesday, strategist stephen freedman says it could help support stock prices. >> clearly the soft patch and economic data have been one of the market drivers. and here, investors are going to try to figure out whether the fed believes this is indeed a soft patch, and the second half of the year we will see economic data strengthen. >> reporter: many americans fear the opposite as the fed ends its second quantitative easing program, dubbed qe2. but make no mistake, the markets do not want any whiff of a qe3. >> that would probably be seen as a negative signal for the markets, because that would be viewed as indicating that the fed perhaps has insight into weaker data than is commonly assumed as being the baseline for the economic recovery here. >> reporter: bond investors also hope to hear the recovery is gaining traction-- but not
