a fire broke out at 2:30 yesterday afternoon in the milpitas foothills. that's near calaveras ridge drive and came within a few yards of several homes and forced two families evacuate. crews attacked the fire from the ground and the air. they say wind and steep terrain delayed them from getting the upper hand. firefighters remind people that even though the calendar says october, fire season is not over. >> we still do have some extreme fire conditions in california in the bay area here. so we just ask people to be extra vigilant and maintain fire safety and help us make sure no other fires like this occur. >> after putting out the fire, firefighters went to work using a bulldozer to create a line around the blackened grass to make sure this area is contained. that fire burned about four acres. flames shoot up into the sky from a warehouse fire in san carlos. take a look at this video a viewer posted on twitter. the warehouse is located on american street near the state plumbing and heating building. firefighters say the fire broke out just before 8:00 la
