it is called minari. minari is set in the 1980s.to rural arkansas. the patriarch wants to start a farm. played by acclaimed korean—american actor steven yeun, he's searching in a way for his version of the american dream. he's looking for a lot of things. i think he's looking forjust a certain sense of control over his environment. i think he's accessing something natural to him, but maybe isn't realising how much he is causing miscommunication and damage around him, too. minari was written and directed by isaac chung, who grew up on a farm in arkansas. his family comes from south korea. this is his fourth feature film, but it's not strictly autobiographical. i just tried to stay true to little details that i remember that i personally wanted to preserve, but at the same time, it's also very fictional. all the characters are very different from my parents and my grandmother, and that's to try to make a story, try to make it a film. the parents in the film, the married couple, have a tautness in their relationship. they have differen

we're starting with "minari," m-i-n-a-r-i. on demand right now.this korean immigrant family that moves to the united states in the '80s. they launch into their own version of the american dream. really compelling storytelling here. writer/director lee isaac chung talked about pulling from his own life experiences for this. that cast, steven young will be on "gma" monday. they talked about how elements are relatable. check it out. you'll hear a lot more about this movie as award season kind of plays out. and another one i'm excited about, "the united states vs. billie holiday." best original song nominee for andra day. she's incredible, directed by lee daniels. andra never acted before, so she dives into the deep end, and she's getting awards attention for this. really transforming into this legendary jazz singer, diving into the trauma, the pain, the story really surrounding how she was targeted by the government and ended up reinvigorating the civil rights movement in many different ways. those are two you can check out for sure. >> a successful
