minneapolis by the way had a heat index of 120. and the heat index is when you mix the temperature with the humidity. that's the how it feels temperature outside. now, currently out there the worst of it is up here in the northern plains. this is where it's very humid, it's actually more humid in minnesota, iowa and wisconsin than it is on the gulf this morning. the high pressure center is right over st. louis today. these areas of green, the dew point measures how much moisture is in the air. if it's over 60, you can feel it. if it's over 70, that's where it's oppressive. and we're in the 70s throughout almost everywhere east of the mississippi and also back up here into the northern plains. notice the highest numbers are at minneapolis and new orleans and also there in florida. so in other words, in the northern plain, you have the humidity this morning of what they do down in florida. your bodies just aren't used to it. and right now the heat index even without the sun, it feels like 91 in minneapolis. you're by far the hottest
